The "costs"

Stuarts team spent £85, so thats the toy car, blank dvd's, posters ect

What about the cost of filming on the race track?

You must have missed it.

They did state that whatever they spend on props/adverts etc. will be deducted from the profit. The other stuff was inclusive.

I was surprised that toy Ferrari was less than £85 on its own.

You mean the one the team bought halfway thru? It looked like one of those mega expensive vintage pedal cars, they're usually about £100, even on ebay

No, the one Stuart's team had. I think Joanna and Stella bought it in the toy shop. I'm pretty sure it had a prancing horse logo on it. (I could be wrong, it has been known)

But, now you mention it, the other one looked expensive too.

Wow really - must have been expensive then..! Unless they were just hiring them for the day?

I'm sure the price tag on the Ferrari was £169

I was convinced that Stuart had made a big loss after seeing this, but they only spent £85 apparently, maybe it was £69

Maybe. Plus £15 for the DVDs left a pound for everything else

Sometimes the costings/profits don't add up. Last year's 'sell the damned rug' task was one that left quite a few viewers confused.
The over spend on sandlewood too was just over half of their costs, no idea where they wasted even more.

We are shown just enough to make the boardroom points frequently.
Though sometimes I think they just roll dice and make up numbers that way.

I thought the toy car (the red one) was just a cheap bit of plastic? I wouldn't be surprised if it more around £30-£40. The one in the link is battery-powered. I does look similar, but why would Jo and Stella bother with a battery-powered car when all it had to do was sit there?

I saw that - it seemed the whole thing with the figures at the end were plucked out of thin air

If they were really sales people, they could have got BOTH cars free for the day offering free advertising to the shops they came from.........

But why didn't Stuart's team get penalised for wasting time and money on filming at the racetrack. When the other team decided to swap to a racing background they suddenly produced a better background file from the archive footage. I thought the filming bit was quite superfluous and just to fill out the task/programme.

The point is that didn't cost them anything. On what grounds could you penalise them? It could always be dressed up as roadtesting the experience...

Jamie said that he counted 57 sales, now IIRC, if they sold the first 12 @ £11.99 = 143.88 and 45 @ £7.99 = £359.55, that's a total of £503.43.

Karren Brady reported that Synergy's sales total was £372.97.

Of course, Jamie could be being economic with the facts.

Grounds? LS's never needed 'grounds' in the past when he wants to make a team lose so he can fire someone he's gunning for. He's just made up arbitrary numbers to 'fine' them which then somehow swap the winning team to be the result he'd like!

Why he didn't do this to get rid of Stuart is beyond me. Nick can't have given too good feedback either as he was clearly as irritated with Stuart as much as I was and his fellow teams members were! I can only think LS is hanging on to him as he really is going to be so much fun in the interview round!!

In the boardroom it said 55. I think that was the number of DVDs they burned. Not all were sales as the customers didn't always turn up to claim them and pay.

They only get fined when they break rules. Stuart didn't break any rules.

Stuart has only been in the firing line twice. The most recent time was 4 tasks ago, when Melissa got fired instead - quite rightly in my opinion as she was a nightmare.
