Hi Guys and Gals of Digital Spy Mod-Land,

Ok, I know that as soon as the programme finishes you want to get the interview with the fired candidate up as quickly as possible, but could you possibly do it *without* including their photo on the frontpage? Just a general photo of Alan Sugar would be just as good to show that it's an 'Apprentice' related story.

It's a tad annoying when you come to this site before you've had a chance to watch the show and you see who's been fired because it completely spoils the episode - you know who was fired, so you know which team looses and you know what's going to happen in the board room.

lol oh dear oh dear oh dear, alternatively you could just keep away from DS like I keep away from sports websites when I don't want to know the football scores.

Once a programme has aired it cannot be 'spoiled' - what part of that do some of you not understand? It's your responsibility to keep away from a 'breaking news' entertainment site if you don't want to know what's going on!

This is fair and, also, our moderators are not our journalists.

I'll pass your concerns to our Reality TV editor for consideration though.

Agreed!

Once the show has been broadcast there is no reason whatsoever to keep the events in it a secret.

If you don't want to know results, don't come on to DS or sites like until after you have watched it!

Hi, I do appreciate that it's frustrating to have shows like The Apprentice spoiled.

We have generally tried to not stick pictures on the front page on Wednesday night and we avoid spoiler headlines, so we can't reveal it on Twitter etc.

However, as most other rival websites publications tend to splash with the eliminated contestant on Thursday morning, it's always a hard call for us, as to whether we keep their picture hidden.

I'm not sure that this is really an answer, but we are aware of the problem. As other posters have said, avoiding reading News or Apprentice DS pages before you've watched the show is the only way to be certain that it isn't spoiled.

I do avoid all Apprentice specific related websites and forums until I've watched the show - however Digitalspy isn't just about the Apprentice and there's a lot more on here that I like to read as well.

I'm not saying don't run the story or don't have it on the front page - just don't put the photo of the Fired contestant there and instead have a general picture? It's easy (for me anyway) to avoid reading an area of the screen if I can tell from the photo it's something that I don't want to read - but it's impossible to avoid looking at an area of the screen when you don't know not to look at it until you've already seen it.

And as The Apprentice is one of the top shows on iPlayer and repeated at the weekend, I can't be the only person in the country who doesn't see it when it's first broadcast.

Do you really think people wont know that the story is an interview with the fired candidate if there's a picture of Sir Alan attached to it on the front page instead of the picture of the actual candidate?

But as a competing entertainment site, if DS don't flash breaking news banners up here, punters will go elsewhere to find them. Unfortunately that's the way media works. There are some occasional viewers who won't necessarily watch the programme but wish to keep abreast of who's been fired....at a glance. I'm like that with X-factor...

It is possible to use non-spoiler pics and we do that on Wednesday night. If we haven't that's a mistake.
However, on a Thursday morning, when the firee's pic is all over the press (see the sun website, the daily mail, the mirror), we want to grab people's attention. I want people clicking on the homepage to see Sandeesh's picture and go - oh God, I watched her last night. A general pic of Lord Sugar is less appealing.
I do appreciate that this is annoying though. And I do realise lots of people don't watch the show at 9pm Weds.

To be fair to the OP, I was working last night and had to quickly turn down BBC Radio 5 live down as they where about to start talking about the programme!

I wonder if they realsie that not everyone can get to watch it as its aired and do have to watch it later?

Is the OP's suggestion about maybe just putting Sugar's face along side a headline like "latest candidate fired" not a compromise ? Even for a day, loads of people must watch it on thursday as well as wednesday.

Having said that, I would imagine most people would try to avoid DS till they have seen it.

EDIT - apologies , i have just seen you answer similar question, fair enough.

well said. LS is far less appealing than Sandeesh!

seriously though, once a problem is aired, its done. It's not DS problem if someone hasn't watched it. And tbh, its only light entertainment.

eg. I'm surprised the papers write up the coronation street plot, before broadcast. something like that seems more of a spoiler to me.

At least you not Richard Bacon he turned up at Brentwood hours to interview LS and saw the two finalists so The Apprentice is spoied for him now..

As others said don't come on ds to see the result until you have seen it yourself as it won't spoil it for you.

Regardless of the fact that the show is repeated, the result is going to be reported once the show is first aired.

If it's that important not to know the result until you've watched the programme you either need to make sure you watch it when it's broadcast or avoid the internet and all other print and broadcast media until you've seen it.

I really think that's fair enough to be honest, I can understand the fact that it's annoying but it's really up to the individual viewer to make arrangements one way or another to see the programme before they see the reports about the programme.

I can see the point about not showing the picture of the fired candidate on the front of Digital Spy but the editor's job is to keep people on the site by getting them to click through to other pages.

I agree.

Once the program has aired, revealing who won or lost is not a spoiler. In the past, when I've been out and recorded the program, invariably I've heard who has gone on the radio next morning.

If you want to go on DS and not find spoilers on the first page, it is simple to Google search DS for the specific page you want and go straight there (eg the Soaps homepage or DS forums), bypassing the main homepage.

You know what it's like on here though - We have people demanding that there are no spoilers in Buffy threads ffs, and that aired years ago!

So far as I'm concerned if a program has aired it cannot be spoiled. If you don't want to know then avoid it!

Good point - in fact I have the forums front page saved to my favourites so I never see the DS news unless I go and look for it.

I somewhat agree with the OP, when they show football results on some channels they always warn you and give you a chance to "turn away" if you dont want to know the results and digital spy is not just a website about one show it has a wide range from tv soaps to entertainment. You might visit this site just for the forums and end up seeing the picture of the fired candidate...I dont see the issue in just posting a pic of Alan Sugar really.

Yes, someone got very annoyed with me on one thread for posting a 'spoiler', ie talking about something that had happened in a programme that had already aired but they hadn't seen yet.

I'm surprised nobody's rung 999 and said they're being cyberbullied because people keep posting about programmes they haven't watched yet!

[That's not a dig at you OP, but various FMs who go way over the top with their policing of alleged spoilers.]
