Those with successful careers forged from their own talent and hard work (e.g. Nigel, Jenni, Dom and to an extent Linford) will no doubt see right through him. In addition, being older they will have more knowledge of Lembit's career.

I don't dislike the chap but I cannot for the life of me understand how he was elected in the first place, every time he has been on TV he comes across as an oaf.”

So the reasons you list are good for people to use as abuse/marginalisation? I doubt that it is anything to do with talent, as Lembit would have had to make a similar effort to be elected. He didn't just put himself in that position, oaf or not. Whos's to say that the others have better personas? I think that because Lembit appears to be coping well in exactly the same situation (plus the ridicule) as those that aren't coping is enough to set them off. Plus, there must always be someone to be despised by some of the more insecure people in the group. Very Lord Of The Flies. Also, the 'me' people that keep haranguing Lembit obviously don't care about the effect that their behaviour has on the more civilised members, who prefer not to follow suit. It will be interesting to see who becomes the whipping boy/girl once Lembit goes.

Lembit is a really nice guy. I hope he does well.

Sorry....what??? Have you any idea just how much hard work, dedication & self sacrifice is required to become a top athlete? "To an extent, Linford" pfft.

Good points but it appears that many of those in camp have said similar negative things about Lembit (as was pointed out on the ITV2 show tonight) - so, the question is why? We don't have live feed - they are with him 24/7.

Plus, I think it is very difficult for all to get on in such situations and as you get older (like me!!) you become less tolerant sometimes and less willing to hold back. I don't think it is a Lord of the Flies scenario as Lembit is big enough, daft enough and been around the block enough to fall victim. Although, he may be playing that card, who knows.

No, I didn't mean it like that - he achieved great things.

I think perhaps they meant the extent that wasn't chemically assisted.

It's because he's an easy target.

He was made to look like a complete muppet by the media since he went out with a Cheeky Girl".

In there, whilst they are forming their group dynamics, no-one wants to be the unpopular one.
Just like that Eclair thing said before she went in, she didn't want to be the one on her own that no-one hung around with. Oh how she must be pleased the camp has that victim there already.

It's bullying, pure and simple.

Sure you may ot like him, but he's polite, friendly and not offensive.

Lembit is inoffensive enough in short bursts but appears to be quite annoying to be around for any period of time. Which is a bit of a drawback if you are living 24/7 with a group of egomaniacs.

Probably something to do with him being a smug, wonkey-faced ****-head and fame-hungry desperado.

So partly irrational and unfair, because of his looks.

Smug he can control, the wonky face is not something he would have chosen, being a dick-head is probably inherent, fame hungry is likely a result of years of being a politician in a small party where a degree of fame goes with the job, so after 13 + years of suffering and enjoying the results of fame, he decides to go for it. I would, in his situation of meeting and seeing talentless and often ignorant types making a good living out of just being sub-celebs, compared with the work of being an MP.

I cannot believe I am defending, albeit in a back handed way, Lembit Opik, but I cannot understand why the camp is so against him.

Nigel fell out of the canoe/boat because he stood up when it is basic boating pond 30 minute hire level knowledge only one at a time stands up to get out. His venom towards Lembit, after the boat incident, I assumed at first to be of the panto variety but that has been cancelled by his influential remarks to Jenny and Dom.

What spell or spiel has Gillian given them that they tolerate her more than Lembit? She is an avaricious humourless parasite, he at least makes an effort for the group.

I think Dom will look after him, he knows him from the "outside", and says he nice enough - he also told Jenny not to be so mean.

He's alright Lemmy. Can see him coming up the inside rail and through the weak field once he's giving a bit leeway. But, he'll still get nowhere near the young filly opening up as she sails over Becher's Brook.

Get a grip some of you.... you are being 'played' by the editing of the programme. Lembit may well be the most irritating person in the world but if the makers of the show edit it out you won't see it. We are being manipulated into feeling sorry for him. That's what they think makes good TV. For a whole group of people to dislike him so vehemently he must have done something wrong. He strikes me as very arrogant (but not as awful as the selfish McKeith grrr).

That's yet another wasted votes he's received this year.

He was a useless politician and will be a useless celeb. Anyone voting for him has been suckered.

As a Lib Dem, I hated him every time he was on telly. He was an embarrassment to the party (though the least of our worries now as it turns out!!!) but as a person, and how he appears in the jungle, I think he is okay. If anything he's a bit cringey to watch as he tries to be funny, but I think the way they are ganging up on him is a bit harsh. Will probably count in his favour though.

Nigel made an a**e of himself by doing that, felt humiliated, and took it out on Lembit.

You don't think there was any hard work and talent involved in becoming an MP...for the LibDems...in Wales...for 13 years!?!?!?!
Seriously?

Don't get the Lembit dislike either. He seems a decent enough person, if a little eccentric. He's mucking in and not whinging about everything. I've also not heard him bitch about anyone.

Jenny was completely wrong to judge him so quickly (I was liking her too) but it was nice to hear Dom telling her to back off.

Yes, that put Dom up a notch in my estimation. Incidentally, eccentric is good, in my view.

I've disliked him for many years but he will turn it round mainly because he wants to play the victim, the public love to support a victim and he will have pulled the wool over everyones eyes.
He makes my skin crawl.”

This is what I don't like about him.

Any time previously that I have seen Jenny on TV she has been a vulgar, annoying old b*g.
Obviously she hasn't changed.
