The world would be much sweeter if it was filled with tarts.

Dom Jolly asked him who these men were shagging...

Mostly it was women who got on his back, think that was quite telling, young & older.
Because they weren't actually listening to what he was saying. Things are better than they were but it's still a man's world. Men do pretty much run things & they can get away with behaviour that would be frowned upon in a woman. We still have a long way to go to achieve true equality.

I don't think Linford was trying to be clever. We don't know what was said before that led to this discussion. And he was right, if all was equal, women would be paid the same salary for doing exactly the same job as men.
And so they are (we've had equal pay laws for decades). On average women do earn less than men, but that's because they tend to be in jobs which pay less, do more part time work and don't get as high up the career ladder.

Yes Linford you are right - men do rule the world and that is exactly why the world is in a mess! Nothing to be proud of.

Except there isn't really any evidence that women are better at running things than men.

What Lynford said was partially true. On a macro level men still rule. However, there are far more women now in powerful positions.

On a micro level things are much different. In relationships it is not always the man who calls the shots. In fact, it is usually the woman in charge. This is a masive shift from years ago. Many young men have more respect for their mothers than they do for their fathers.

These attitudes only change when more people challenge not whether it is true but whether it is correct. I was pleased to hear that many of the camp members did challenge Lynford's assertions.

I do believe that it is Lynford's attitude due to his own culture and what he knows, he even said such things as 'I'm fifty years old' and 'I was brought up in Jamaica'. To the best of my knowledge Jamaica was a country that treated males and females very differently although this may be changing more recently.

I wonder if he'd have said these things if his Mother was there

Errm, you made the sweeping generalisation about men, I just pointed out how silly that is.

For these pampered fakers.

Men do run the world and to say any different is plain foolishness.
Question: Do men give birth ? No !!

Without women they would be a non-entity : Women have always held the trump card in ruling the world

I actually think a lot of people look down on men sleeping around too. John Terry and Wayne Rooney didn't get much support when their shagging stories broke.

Men rule the word yet Linford doesn't have the balls to tell Gillian she can't have the passion fruit.

He was telling the truth. If you google a list of the 1000 most powerful people in the world they will be overwhelmingly male (and probably white).

That was the REAL Linford coming out.Deep down this twice over drug cheat(he somehow got off once!!!) is a very opinionated and nasty man.Ive seen him at Athletics meetings all smiles when the camera was on him then push little kids out of his way when they werent on him.His view on women are no suprise to me

This confirmed cheat delayed the 96 Olympic final having been caught having two false starts.his arrogance had to be seen to be believed.

now non sport fans are seeing what i saw years ago.

Yes. I would think he has a chip on both shoulders, he comes across as deeply insecure, and quite jealous

Well that comment really does surprise me, because at every athletics meeting I saw him (and they were during his prime) he always amazed me at his patience with the kids. They followed him around like the Pied Piper and he always had time for them and sign everything they put in front of him. Having witnessed this on more than the "odd" occasion I really am surprised that you saw him behave differently. I've seen a few athletes who had little time for the fans/kids at meetings but, Linford definitely wasn't one of them.

Yes, that's definitely the Linford I've seen. On several occasions. Nice to have it confirmed by someone else.

Good grief - I think a 'sense of humour bypass' here.

When I said this to my hubby after Linford's statements - we both laughed. I was not making any points at all just a humorous observation.

Yes, Linford is right. He didn't say that's how it SHOULD be he just said that's how it IS.

I think Shaun is real, Linford is full of wind and doesn't really listen to people

If you're going to overtly judge people you should at least be open to them putting their side of the story
