Are BT miss-selling Vision box?
I need a straw pool done: I bought a Bt Vision + box after asking BT if it receives HD TV and they said yes it does. After asking if it did I went away and chose the package I wanted and then rang to order it. Turns out it doesn't get HD channels at all and can only stream HD movies from BT's expensive on demand service.
I rang to complain but they are saying that because I didn't confirm it during the phone-call when I ordered it I have no cause for complaint and, here's where I start to get upset, this is regardless of what they had said earlier. Would everyone else confirm an all technical details when placing and order or would go with the facts you'd earlier been given? Am I being strange in think they are way way out of line on this? Here's the very misleading website: http://www.productsandservices.bt.co...?topicId=24693 |

The sales person may have mislead you, but the website looks clear enough - I can't see any reference to Freeview HD or HD channels.

Thanks for the feedback- I'm interested to see what people think of the website- at work there definite split between the technologically savy and the rest, although I will confess that I thought myself to be somewhat knowledgeable until this cock up.

I also think you asked the rep a vague question as the box does indeed receive HD TV if you consider the HD downloads. Now if you'd asked about Freeview HD then you might have got the answer that you were after. Sorry but people have got to be careful here as all this jargon needs to be used correctly otherwise misunderstandings are going to occur. |

A point to remember is that Vision is really all about VOD, you don't actually pay for freeview (as the name suggests) so when you're asking questions you could argue that the BT reps are assuming you're talking about the Vision side of the box, which is HD capable. As Webber said unless you've actually mentioned 'freeview HD' or 'HD through the aerial', or something similar then they're actually correct.

Whilst the website doesn't explicitly say Freeview HD, to me I can see how a non technical person would be confused. That's because the reference to HD doesn't explicitly say it is just for downloads.

However, BT usually tell you on the phone....
with me they said I wouldn't get HD, and they said it again when i ordered sky sports "Please be aware that we currently re not able to provide sky sports in HD, do you agree to the above statement?" as i said yes, he went ahead and ordered sky sports..... so... basically. Unless the device carried the Freeview HD or freeview + HD logos then assume it does not support HD. |

Maybe they've had cancellations on Sky sports because of no HD availability, so have now inserted the above statement. |
