FreeSat+ boxes for Disabled People (switchover help)
As I am disabled (deafness) I am eligable for support when switchover happens ( just received the booklet) It says I can buy a FreeSat+ HD digital recorder for (£199) including dish/installation etc. It only claims that it can watch one channel while recording the other, what I want to know is does anyone know if this is the same as a double tuner and that I could record 2 channels at the same time or does anyone know what they are selling? thought maybe someone had already bought one from the "switchover" people, all they could tell me is its a watch one record another channel, so its not enough information?

If it's got twin tuners then whatever make it is the second channel will be recordable as well. Additionally a previously recorded programme will be viewable while recording two. If it's a Humax box then some third live channels will be viewable while recording two

All Freesat+ receivers have twin tuners, so providing that the installation includes two cables from the dish LNB, you'll be able to record one channel whilst watching/recording another, or alternatively playback a previous recording at the same time as two channels recording. This is the standard across all Freesat+ receivers, so it just depends on the installation carried out.

Is this because you cannot receive Freeview where you are? Switchover does not affect satellite reception so I am little confused by this.

I didn't realise support was available to allow you to get HD if you already have a perfectly usable Freeview service.
