Without wishing to get in a huge Saira Khan-related argument, there is no way Saira intended to threaten Matt House (whose actions in that episode were openly disrespectful and deliberately unhelpful)

I'm sure we'll discuss this more when we get to that episode in the re-watch, but I agree with you. Saira's manner came didn't come across well (not because she intended it, but just because she's an easily misunderstood character), but both Raj and James also had issues with that guy. When Saira delegated James to speak to him, he got exactly the same reaction as she did. Besides, Matt House came across as difficult before those conversations, and Saira's initial suggested seemed quite good to me (can we use the programme?/can we use the website? etc.) They were certainly better ideas than the other team came up with, some of which were simply absurd (let's replace the players' shirt numbers with our text number!)

If there was one irritating thing about Saira, it would be that she could come across as being very condescending when dealing with people, which if memory serves was particularly obvious in the episode that's going to be re-watched tonight. However, even in her particular series I would say that Matthew was arguably more annoying, and Adele was definitely more annoying.

I've been quite shocked on the series 1 re-watch as I had a good impression of Saira - really had forgotten how condescending she could be. I had remembered what a twit Matthew was though
Oddly Paul is (so far) coming over far better than I recall - maybe similar types (Micheal Sophacles, Syed Ahmed) have clouded my memory - or maybe he just gets worse

The thing about Saira is that she isn't intentionally being condescending, it's just how she talks to everyone. I can certainly see how divisive she can be though.

I agree, she's been a panellist on The Wright Stuff this week and she really does just talk to everyone as if they're a stupid child.

Not necessarily. On the football task, although that was Saira's weakest task, she did have one thing going for her, and that was that she knew how to talk to the shopkeepers in Tottenham. Maybe it's a class thing; with the more working-class groups, she can talk to them quite well - we saw a comparison between her saying, 'All right mate!' and James saying, 'Cheerio then!' and Saira's approach was more successful.

And to be fair, people say that I'm rude and patronising on DSA as well, and I don't think I am.

To be honest, it's hard to see someone saying "if we lose, I'm going to mention you to Sir Alan in the boardroom" as anything other than a threat.

Saira's behaviour was especially galling given Sir Alan's lecture before the Harrods task.

An ability to be friendly with shopkeepers is a positive thing, but if Saira had won, she would have been spending a lot more time with the Matt Houses of this world.

She certainly didn't mean it in that sense though. House just took it that way due to the tone. She was asking if he'd mind her explaining the situation if they lost. She was covering her back more than anything else, certainly no chance of it being a genuine, deliberate threat, in my opinion.

Oh god so many.

Lindi (Everything about her but mainly the utter BS that came out of her mouth)
Nargis (Just awful awful pitch - I wanted to cry)
Philip (dance in your pants)
Mona (So, are you a man or a woman?)
Claire (24Alex's gf )

Probably some more. But for me, Lindi was just unbearable and therefore my number one. Followed by Nargis and Mona in joint second.

All of the more obviously 'annoying' people I actually found entertaining and not jarring.

There's a fine line between annoying and entertaining, and quite a lot of the time people find candidates entertaining because they're annoying. People like Michael Sophocles, Stuart Baggs, Katie Hopkins and Jim Eastwood.

Katie Hopkins? Not annoying just a bitch. Entertaining though.
Jim? Funny, not annoying. Entertaining IMO.
Michael Sophocles? Not annoying just slimy. Not entertaining.
Stu Baggs? Very annoying. By no means entertaining.

I don't think you can find someone entertaining who you find annoying.
