I want to get Freesat+ installed but all I am getting is a box which can record one channel while I watch another one, is that installed the same way as a double tuner as I will probably buy a twin tuner in the Summer, so will I get the same cables etc for this installation or will something be missing and I will need to ge the installer out again for the Double tuner I know it sounds long winded and apologies for any inconvience caused.

I am unsure as its being bought for me, but I thought as 2 things could be done ie watch and record that they would need to have 2 cables the same as a twintuner?

If you can record one and watch another at the same time then it will have twin tuners and will require a twin feed from the dish to the box.

All twin tuner satellite pvrs for full 100% capability require two connections. The Humax Foxsat-hdr can record two and watch a 3rd with some restrictions using only one cable. It's also the only Fresat+ pvr that allows you to watch some 3rd live channels while recording two.

If it's not a Humax box you need two cables to record two at the same time and you won't be able to watch a 3rd channel using the box as a source while recording two.

Buy a quad LNB off Ebay, give the installer a drink and you will have TV Heaven!

I wish it was as easy as that!!!! Funny enought after a lot of searching and I was able to email them (eventually I got a reply) they told me it was a Twin Tuner and I CAN record 2 programes at the same time, its just I cannot watch a 3rd one, something I did not want to do anyway, so at last I got it sorted out, but just of a matter of interest, is this a standard installation ie if the future (far off future!!!) I want to replace my box with say a Hummy it will just be the case of a simple replace, or does different manufacturer need different installer?

It's a straight forward swap.

I have no knowledge of DVD but certainly if you archive recordings to an external drive or USB memory stick the subtiles are preserved.

I can double check that with the installer, its just that as we were on the topic of FreeSat I just thought I would ask it, if the subtitles are on the drive/USB stick then I can really assume that they will go on a dvd (but as said will double check)
