Although I concede that Kara & Artem's routine strayed too far from what an American Smooth is supposed to be, a four point deduction was way too severe.
At the same time though, the dance wasn't worth 10s either.
They were in the correct position overall but Len should be ashamed of himself!

Kara's dance was one of the few best I have seen on scd. It was outstanding. She did not put a foot, hand, arm etc..wrong! The choreography was to me just as good as karen n mark's at! That is saying alot! Len really let her ability down.
I still think they were the best of the night - I can just about take them being beaten by Matt but NOT Pamela
Len has lost all credibility, he has been ignoring props, lifts, and routines which bear no resemblance to the actual dances they purport to represent, throughout the series. Then he gives Kara one more point than the dreadful Widdecombe, Len needs to go next year.
Strictly was totally spoilt for me this evening.
Len cannot truely believe that Kara's dance was only worth one more point than Ann's.
Kara and Artem have been the best by far in this series, followed by Matt and Scott, these are my favourite final three.
I hope Artem gets back to full fitness soon.

Really shocked by Len tonight. Kara looked like she was fighting tears at the end and Artem looked in so much pain. Anyway, it has motivated me to pick up the phone and vote for the first time this year. Kara and Artem have my votes.
I think Len's point was that there was no hold, at all. It was a truly stunning performance and dance from them both, as well as truly inspired choreography. I was personally impressed by the dance. But I was wondering, about half way through when the hold was going to kick in, and it never did, it was more of a showdance, so I can see his point. He can't mark it for an American Smooth if there was none. Doesn't detract from how great it was though.

Which would be ok if he had scored all the dances so far in relation to how well they match the actual dance but he hasn't. Anne's fiasco was no where near a samba yet he gave her a 5, one less mark than Kara. Madness

he may be right that the choreography didn't strictly fit the rules, but that still doesn't justify a 4-point deduction. She did plenty of steps you normally find in an AS in out of hold bits.
