Because Simon is full of BS and pays their wages.

Though Dannii did have a go at them : she was mainly negative.

If I said to most of the people who auditioned, 'Good job, awesome, well done,' it would have made me actually look and feel ridiculous.

I think it is wrong that they have NEVER received criticism.

They are young and freshly put together - so surely there must be some sort of constructive criticism the judges could give them. If they were THAT good (which they aren't yet); they wouldn't even need the show.

I do find it strange how they have never received a bad word though.

Because Simon is their mentor. Louis got told he would be removed from the building for telling Cheryl that she picked the wrong song for one of her acts, could you imagine what would happen if he dissed either Simon or One Direction directly

No idea. They remind me of that girlband Hope, Simon thought they were great too and often used huge backing vocals to cover the fact they werent great.

Tbf theres not really that much to be criticized.

And whilst they are championing Cher and Katies (usually) dreadful performances, they would look a bit silly to criticize one direction IMO.

Because they're Simon's last group, and he's the boss of X-Factor.

Surely that doesn't help though? I'm sure the boys would prefer to hear constructive criticism rather than be spoon feed OTT praise every week.

If he allowed us all to hear ONLY their LIVE voices, he knows they would be out by now. He justs wants to get them to the studio where he can do JLS on them!!

Havent we heard their voices before? In auditions?

Liam has a lovely voice, I have to say. Harry too.

The others are...questionable...

You know, a couple of them do have passable voices, as you say the others are questionable.

It's not just that though for me- it's the way they sing songs. I hate that cheesy, high school musical way they choose to sing everything.

Sure, it appeals to the kids and will probably sell well, but it's not my taste. In fact, that would be a diplomatic way of putting it

I feel sorry for the young lads, they are probably believing all the hype about them. I think they are in for a shock when they are back home in a few months time, wondering where they went wrong.

But they PRETEND to be able to harmonise in all of the chorus, they cannot and Simon knows they would be terrible and therefore go.

Louis did exactly the same with a boy band a while back, Eton Road. At least then, one week they were good and the next terrible which showed up the game playing, Simon is not so honest.

Just a very average set of nice looking boys. Harry is the best singer imo but boy does he know it! They are drowned out by loud backing tracks and backing singers to hide the fact that their harmonising is terrible. One of them is consistently off key if you listen closely, I have a feeling it may be Zain.

The funny thing is, if Louis was their mentor you can imagine Simon and co being all too willing to slate them. I am predicting a Wand Erection win I am afraid, too many grannies and young girls on their side for them not to win.

There is an air of desperation about Cowell when he talks about them : they are his only hope of reaching the final, never mind winning it.

The crazy OTT praise sounds weird....they get the same level of praise from week to week no matter how good or bad they are.

Frankly, the man is a genius to have got them this far!

They were laughed at initially- but a few weeks of praise and suddenly, they're one of the favourites to win

And on the back of what? Some average and at times awful performances, not to mention irritating! Frankly, I'd be surprised (and maybe even a tad worried ) if they appealed to anyone over the age of about 14.

Yep, making puppy dog eyes at the camera as they do so.

It's so cliched.

It's almost like the 90's never happened

Presumably, One Direction have been in stasis since then?
