The Band and Singers
Doghouse Riley
20-11-2010
This has been done before but is worth repeating.

The band have always been pretty consistent, after all they're session musicians who can play "anything." But the singers have improved no end this series. They all get some credit each week but they're still hidden away. This wasn't the case in the days of Ray McVay (he's "Glen Miller" now) and "Come Dancing." The band was arranged in the traditional way on a bandstand (that's what they're for) with the music stands lined up as were those of the "big bands" of the dance hall era.
They aren't a "pit orchestra," the sight of the band could be an integral part of the performances.
All it would need to enhanse the experience would be a few glimpses of them from time to time. As it is, they might as well have the music recorded.

i commented tonight that the singers are better that most in the charts, i was actually distracted during Matt's dance and did't see much of it as i was captured by the woman who was singing....but i guess they're out of view as its a dance contest

I accept that it's a dance contest, but so was "Come Dancing" pure and simple.
