Survivor 2010: New Who - Companions and Notable Characters Round Twenty Two
Rita's Kabin
20-11-2010
Thanks to everyone who voted in Round Twenty One

If you haven't played a Survivor game before and would like to join in it's all very easy. The idea is that, round by round you nominate your least favourite characters for eviction and the ones with the most votes are eliminated from the game.

The game then, is all about what you think of the characters that you can vote for. You should not consider how good the episode or episodes that the characters appear in were, just how much you like or dislike the character in question.

Votes can be sent to me via PM. If you're going away or are unable to vote for any other reason you can always PM me a list of characters that you'd like to evict in order of preference.

You can also send your votes into the following round automatically. Just type "auto" with your choices & your choices will automatically be carried forward into the following round(s).

So it's on with the results...

For a while it looked as if we'd end up with another tie-break but a few last minute voters pushed Adelaide Brooks out by just one vote. She claims 10th place and leaves Vincent as the solo person left outside of the Recurring Characters group.

Yay for Vincent being top rated non-recurring character! Well deserved!

I am absolutely thrilled that Adelaide got 10th position, well deserved imo Also quite happy I got another one out (despite liking her!) But then that means I have to pick someone else and for the first time in this game, I am truly stumped upon who to pick

But alas, I have decided and I have surprised even myself with this choice...

Also, well done to Vincent! Great character and brilliantly portrayed.

And just to be sneaky, I am glad series 5 was the last series left with a character outside the "recurring" ones

That was good timing. I was just coming to see if the next round had been posted yet and here it is!

Adelaide hung on well there. She wouldn't be in my top 10, but she was all right.

He certainly belongs up there - though I'd have put Sally Sparrow and Nancy higher, I think.

The way I look at it, very few non-recurring characters are written in such a way as to have to carry an episode - Vincent is one, Elton Pope another. Thats why I think they deserve that little bit extra props. Blink is an ensemble cast with Sally the lead of that cast, but strongly supported, same with Nancy.

I don't know; Sally and Larry carry their episode together, as much as Elton and Ursula do theirs. Nancy is more part of an ensemble, but so good!

In Blink you have Sally, Larry, Kathy, Billy (old and young) and even Malcolm, Ben and Banto who contribute a lot to the episode in different ways, so I definitely see it as being an ensemble piece. With Vincent and the Doctor, had Tony Curran not nailed the role so well, the episode would have fallen flat on it's face, with Nancy, had the character not worked that well, the impact on the episode would have been fairly minimal really.

In regards to Elton, he is in just about every single scene of L&M (in fact every scene if you count the flash backs to his childhood), which is why he too has to carry the whole episode, imho. I just see these two characters as being in a separate bracket to any other one off characters due to that, I guess. Have to say I do still think it's pretty shameful to see Elton ranked down there with the likes of Malokeh and Minnie Hooper, but there you go....

I am really pleased to see Adelaide ranked so highly. She was one of my favourite characters from Ten's era.

This is getting really hard now with the remaining characters.

It really was a hard decision to choose between Adelaide and Vincent for my top ten and I chose Adelaide. I would have chosen Vincent as well as I loved him.

Elton was in just about every scene of Love and Monsters, but so was Sally in Blink. She certainly had an ensemble of characters around her as you say, but then Elton had Ursula and the other members of LINDA. I think Elton and Sally are comparable in that respect. Vincent is a bit different in that that story is more character-driven whereas Blink is plot-driven. In that respect, Vincent probably does rate higher, but I'd put Sally higher, and this is in no way because I fancy the pants off Carey Mulligan

yeah right-o...

there were actually several scenes in Blink that didn't feature sally, if you watch it back, not that it matters much....

Just a little teaser for you...

We have 2 people tied in first place so xxxxxxx could go or it could be yyyyyyyy.

It all depends on any late votes.

And with 5 characters tied in third place anything could happen over the next few rounds......
