I think thats what made him so sexy (apart from the surprisingly fantastic bod and the amazing vocal) - that he was bashful from the start when he appeared in the spotlight, and before that in his VT saying he supposed he needed a bit more swagger.

The vest on someone cocky would have seemed seedy but he so clearly doesnt get that hes sexy - he's trying to take other peoples word for it - which makes him even sexier!

Well the judges feed lines tonight were much more overt than usual and I thought quite amusing.
Louis saying 'something missing' .......Cheryl naturally disagreeing and Simon lifting it right back and I just loved the cheeky grin over at Dannii before he says 'You look like you've just been dragged from the loo' and of course we have been told by Lauren that they had sex in the loos ie Simon implying Matt is as sexy as get out ....carrying on to Dannii who puts the sex back into the bedroom 'drag you from anywhere to the bedroom' ..it really was funny
I thought Matt's vocals were absolutelt fantastic ..and as evr, improve on rehearing ...that is the constant theme in Matt vocals ..they get better and better the more you listen.
I think Simon et al are doing a grand job ..and hardening him up to the realites of being famous at the same time.
I watched all his performances this morning ..and this is by far the most polished and assured ..that's not to say I like it the best ..but from a performance point of view he is coming on in leaps and bounds .....

Yes, there is quite a big difference in demeanour between "Matt singing in his vest" - natural, and "Matt stood talking to people in a vest" - slightly uncomfortable and self concious.
They did say on Xtra factor that it was Matt's choice to do the whole vest only thing, rather than with a shirt over it. He must really be pushing himself very hard to do these things and succeed.
I doubt we'll get a visit from Ali this early, but if he is around I would be interested to know if Matt pumps iron at all, as he was decribed as "weedy" previously. How much of this is a natural development? I have 2 nephews: one is 16 - gangly and no muscles, one is 20 - you could play a tune on his abs and struggle not to touch his arms (sorry, I know that sounds terribly wrong, but hopefully you get my drift!) He swears he doesn't go to the gym because he can't afford it.

I watched Matt's performance, but still have to watch the rest of the show. And I only saw the youtube one, so need to watch it back in better quality, lol.

I just wanna say, I was really worried about the performance because of Olly's last year. So I was happy with the performance. He didn't really interact with the dancers, that I noticed anyway, like Olly did. He didn't try to actually dance, lol.

I agree that his vocals were a bit strained in the beginning. Okay maybe more than a bit. But I kinda liked it. It added a bit of edginess to it. Like he was really giving it his all and getting into the performance. Absolutely LOVED the end though. It really picked up about halfway through and he nailed the end.

Won't be getting complaints from me concerning the wardrobe, lol. Wow! I'm a bit shocked that it was his idea. Aiden's exit really did give him a different mindset I think. Almost like he decided he'll play along with Syco and give everyone a "performance". And he went all out. Not just with the big production but styling too.

Definitely can't call him a one trick pony. And it's proof he really can sing just about anything. I wanna see more of his rock side.

And I didn't see arrogance whatsoever. He did seem a bit uncomfortable, moreso when listening to the judges about his wardrobe. And all shy with Konnie (did see that part, lol). But he did seem more confident when he was singing. I loved that. He was still a bit vulnerable, probably mostly due to his wardrobe, but he was having fun and giving it his all. The right mix I think. And best of all, it wasn't a repeat of Olly's performance.

Am I making any sense? lol! I'm having a really long weekend and am not entirely coherent. Plus watching that performance didn't help either, lol. I'm a bit flustered. Never thought we'd see a "sexy" side to Matt on stage.

But the big production number is finally out of the way. Him going first is finally out of the way. So long as he's safe tomorrow, I think he's proven himself. He doesn't just sing girly songs. He's capable of much more.

I know a number of people don't care for the performance. But I really enjoyed it. I was expecting much worse as far as the production. And I only watched once, so I know the more I watch, the more I'll love it, lol.

Seems like everyone else was pretty terrible though. I like watching all the performances cause when I do, I see how much better Matt is. Even if his performance isn't outstanding it's still loads better than everyone else. So still need to watch the whole show.

Fingers crossed he's safe tomorrow/today. Won't be around to catch the results as they air, taking my little cousins to see Potter. Probably a good thing. I won't be a bundle of nerves, and when I get online I can already find out who went, lol. Seriously hope he's not in the bottom two. I really hope his risk pays off.

I think Louis bitchy behaviour toward/refusal to smile at Matt tonight was panto too- off the back of the wagner press. I think hes hoping people will assume- or was told to try to make people believe he's upset about it, so took it out on Matt. But sadly almost no one has picked that up

I think that#s exactly what they'll do double elimination saturday and sunday ii the semi - that just leaves when the other will go - I think they will do it if Wagner is in the bottom 3 but if not they will go with a 4 contestant final

The double is their ace in the hole and they will only use it if they know they can get rid of Wagner - Cheryl (though I sympathise with her position) having a go at him on national TV will not have helped in that

Theres actually a moment when he turns at the very beginning in the spotlight where he gives this really sheepish, embarrassed grin - a kind of 'isnt this ridiculous' look before he starts the vocal - its really endearing. Like someone said somewhere - that little bit of vulnerability he exudes along withall that talent- its very likeable and powerful.

As for going to the gym ... I guess he snowboards so you have to be fit for that. Strong stomach muscles.

I have loved Rebecca since the start, but her performance last night was very weak in a week when she should have stepped it up a gear. She has been my favourite girl since Leona, but in fairness she has not done as well as Leona or Alexandra in the competition.

What I am saying is is that there is no huge threat to Leona/Alex' crowns. Katie is overrated, Cher has been great at stage presence, but she manifested as a mini Cheryl last night. The girls this year just do not have what it takes to outperform previous winners.

One Direction are a serious contender for a group to win. There has only been JLS who have had an outstanding career so far, but space for them with Boy Bands currently back on the agenda. Take that, Westlife?

This leads me to the boys. Out of all the male winners Matt is looking more like Shayne Ward. What I mean by that is, if they take it down the sexy guy route that is all he will be seen as. Whilst white vests and muscles pull in the female vote, I do think this should not overshadow Matt's musicality and vocal brilliance. That is my fear. My taste personally was the knitted jumper pinched in.

We have seen so much of what Matt is capable of and I want to see this continue. Hope they have the sexy guy thing out of the way now and concentrate on his vocal delivery. That is ultimately what will win him this show.

The controversial caller last night, if people had listened, made a point of if the show wants people to buy the music then they will go on credibility. We have been receiving this from Matt and I want this to continue and grow. Don't go overboard with too much sexiness.

I do agree with you. We've seen the sexy side of Matt, it's out of the way. Next week, assuming he's still there, he can go back to his suits or whatever they wanna dress him in. Focus more on the vocals and his talent than trying to get the female vote. I don't want his looks to replace his talent in people's eyes. We all became fascinated with him because of that talent, and that shy unassuming guy we first saw at the auditions. Not that we don't wanna see a sexy side of Matt, I just don't want that to become the number one thing people talk about when talking about him.

Its actually becoming a bit alarming. Reading some of the posts some people are almost frothing at the mouth with hatred. Its on a par with the Katie thing - I assume because they feel their own faves aren't knocking him off his perch? I could actually see some members dedicating days of their lives to trying to lower Matts ratings -and before I came on here I dont think I would have believed adults could be that sad over something like this.

I've just watched on YT but on my iPod so tiny screen and no great sound quality. I'm a bit all over the place with it!! Massive shock with the vest naturally but he looks uber sexy!
