Is anyone else really fed up with the studio audience's screams?

Is it just an age thing? - but I am getting really annoyed with the persistent screaming from the studio audience. It's perfectly ok when the contestant has just finished singing - but the continual shouting and screaming when the judges are trying to speak is too much. Let's hear what they have to say - it's only good manners!!

Totally with you! It's completely uncalled for when the judges are trying to talk! Does the audience not want to hear what they say too?!

They need a giant glass screen that they can lower in front of the audience when the judges comment.

Yes I am fed up couldn't hear the judges at all last night. Normaly that would be a blessing but I was fascinated by what they would make of certain contestants effort and it was drowned out in a sea of screams form silly teenage girls.

Couldn't agree more, OP. It's really irritating me this series. My DH had just come in from work and I could see that he was getting quite stressed with all the screaming and yelling. In the past I'm sure Dermy and Kate have asked the audience to be quiet so that the judges can make themselves heard. Eurgh.

I'm a teenager and it's really starting to annoy me now too, it didn't really bother up until last night when 'The Caller' was on and they were chanting off

What's the point of judges if no-one can hear their comments clearly?

Definitely the worst programme for the screaming and it's ruining it.and it seems to be getting worse every year. It is really driving me insane now, as I can't make out half the things the judges say about each contestant, so they might as well not bother.

Even the contestants can't hear what the judges are saying, one of them said as much last night - so what's the flaming point of them saying anything??

Sort it out Cowell, it's really not funny - or pleasant.

It's doing my head in
I can't recall a series ever being like this! But if you notice when they are 'chanting and screaming', the judges don't say nothing to stop it, in fact they gesture with their hands to keep it going. Somebody ought to tell Simon ' n co ( tho he does know ) there are millions watching at home, not just the few hundred ( mostly hand picked ) that are in the audience

It seems to me it`s usually Louis`s comments that always get drowned out

The worst was after Matt's dreadful performance. You'd think Matt actually gave a mesmerising performance, the way they were carrying on. Couldn't hear Louis at all.

I haven't spotted them this year, but in previous years you could clearly see microphones placed in the audience to boost the sound of screeching.

If that's the case, the problem lies with the sound editing as the levels are wrong. It takes a mere tweak to adjust the broadcast sound, as they actually did a couple of weeks ago.

Last week I turned the sound down low and watched with subtitles, which sort of defeats the object of a singing competition, doesn't it!?

It was either that or switch off entirely, as the bawling and baying was at such an extreme level it was painful to listen to.

You could put subtitles on...not perfect, admittedly. Its just part of the total over hype this show gets...........dosent the "Announcer" get louder ever time you hear him?

The audience started to get really annoying last year with Jedward - now I wasn't a fan of them by any stretch but the booing was uncalled for. This isn't Big Brother!

The constant cheers for Mary in the first live show was a great moment but it seemed like the next few times it happened for her people only did it because they wanted to recreate that, even if the performance she gave didn't really deserve it. I remember the first week it didn't happen and Mary looked genuinely shocked that she could actually hear Dannii talking!

Now all the screams are for One Direction are strange to me - I'd assumed all their fans were teenage girls, yet I don't see many of their target audience being there - yet it's like the second coming of Jesus when they perform!

And don't get me started on Westlife's performance last week. I'd prefer to hear them sing than some annoying twit in the audience screeching every word too!!

I emailed ITV last night, as I couldn't hear the judges at all after some of the songs. Haven't had a reply yet.

It's not just an age thing, I'm 19 and I find them bloody annoying. This week they were at their worst though! most of the time I just end up lip reading the judges cos it's the only way.

An audience like the one last night and previous ones add nothing to the show, its a very bad form of heckling. Its a disgrace, by all means add flavour but not drown out the judges when they speak if its a valid point or not.

I'm watching last night's show now...it does my head in! They should have to quieten down when the judges speak because you can't hear their comments.

This is the first week that a quite a few of the contestants have mentioned it, and even Dannii mentioned it (albeit not to complain, but to say that someone's performance must have been great if you can't hear the judges over the audience).

I think it's ridiculous and it's totally ruining the show. My mum leaves the room sometimes because it's so bad. Simon always says he watches back the show afterwards, so how can he not realise that the screams are drowning out the judges. The reason they're sitting there is to judge, but there's literally no point if nobody can hear what they're saying.

I think there is a 'rent a mob' thing going on.

I think there are plants in the audiance to cause hysterics.

Its like when I have watched Loose Women a couple of time's there is always some woman who starts screaming when ever the audiance is encouraged to clap. There was a thread about this a while ago in either the TV or Showiz sections as other posters had noticed it..

It's like when they do the Brits, the get a gang of screamers in to liven the audiance up-I reckon that's what's going on here.
