The digital spy forum is undoubtebly a powerful one. With your help I believe we have a really good chance of getting this unknown christmas song into the charts.

It's called 'That Xmas Factor' and it's a Christmas song about reality TV, The X-Factor and how we need to remember what Christmas is all about.

Anyway it's on here:

www.facebook.com/thatxmasfactor

I'd really appreciate it if you could join the page and share it about.

It would be great if we had a campaign this year that involved not only a christmas song but one made by an unknown.

Thanks all

Nope nothing to do with the X-Factor. It would be a direct competitor just like Rage Against the Machine last year.

I've decided to illustrate what the xmas factor really is proceeds from this song will be going to charity. Looking into them at the mo but I'm thinking cancer research, a homeless charity and nspcc. Hope we can count on your support. All you have to do is join he page and spread the word

NSPCC, Shelter and Cancer Research have been finalised as the charities that the money will be going to.

I know most people probably aren't interested but I'll tell the few that are.

Also, I need people to be in the video which I hope to make in about a week. For more details go to www.facebook.com/thatxmasfactor

There are too many of these campaigns popping up now. They risk cancelling each other out and ending up with X Factor as Xmas number one anyway.

It worked last year becasue it was such a crazy song (RATM)that it caught the zeitgeist, Doubt it will happen again.

It only worked last year because, on the whole, people backed the same song. This year everyone is backing different songs. We'll probably see a handful of the campaigns in the lower end of the chart, leaving the X-Factor to get it's much loved Christmas number uno.

You have a good point. It seems most people are actually backing Bird is the Word.

I haven't seen another campaign involving a new song by an unknown yet but then maybe thats because they are songs by unknowns.

I just thought it would be cool if this song got somewhere in the Top 40 but its best to aim high right?

Hi Mark

I like you're idea, without trying to jump on your thread too much, I'm also releasing a track, 100% of proceeds will be going to Ty Hafan, which is a childrens hospice in Wales.

The video can be seen here:

http://www.icantwaitforchristmasday.co.uk

facebook group: facebook.com/atasteofquo

The song will be available from iTunes etc from Dec 13th and is all chart registered.

I'll be doing a fair bit of promo work on release, maybe we could exchange some ideas etc?

I also agree that the amount of campaigns is likely to result in little to no success for all, apart from "surfin bird" which will do well should the family guy fans buy into it.

It would surprise me if Gamu's track isn't in the top 3 with the PR that will get.

My aim in all honesty is position 40 - I think that would be an immense achievment in its own right

No worries, the charity is all good.

Yeah there are so many to be honest. I was basically just releasing a christmas single for charity and using Facebook to plug it. But I thought 'what the hell' I might as well call it 'to be number one' though since its good to aim high. I don't think I'll get anywhere near the charts as without some sort of airplay or celeb support, people just don't want to know.

Maybe a third of my friends have joined and then maybe 1 or 2 of their friends and then a few others who like my music have joined but that's pretty much where it stops.
