Cher's sing off song
Does no-one else think it's unfair that Cher sang a song she'd already performed on the show? She would have spent a lot more time on her song, having practiced it for the main show, than Paige had on his save me song, and she already knew that everyone loved her singing it.
I think it was very unfair she was allowed to pick Stay and should have been made to pick an unheard one, like everyone else, though I don't think it would have changed the outcome, sadly. Anyone else? |

I agree - they should all pick a song they haven't sung yet.

Mary did it and got slaughtered, despite having been ill
Matt did it and got a standing ovation Cher did it and won the sing off Depends who you are I guess because there is little consistency with the judges. |

There's no rule against them singing they've already done, but I think the judges should bare it in mind that it's a bit of a cop out if they just repeat one they did a few weeks ago.

Why is it unfair?
Paige also could have sung any song he had sung previously if he wanted to.......so why do you think that there was something unfair about it? |

I found it incredible Lazy when Jedwar did it last year. I thought it was lazy when Danyl chose his audition song for the sing-off. I think to repeat audition songs or othe songs you have sung before is for me not saveworthy.

Maybe she thought she was so good she didn't need to prepare a sing off song so had to do one that she's already done as a main song otherwise she would have had egg on her face..
If it had been any other contestant, they'd have been called a one trick pony. I always remember Craig Chalmer in Pop Idol 2 and how Simon pulverised him in the heat before the finals. At least Paije went out on a high note and can hold his head high! |

It doesn't matter, even with the advantage paije sang her off the stage. However she could have sung ba-ba black sheep and they would have put her through.

Paige did a great job, couldn't have been better. Cher was amazing. Had to pick one and Wagner wasn't there. I think the right choice was made BUT, Paige was fantastic in the sing off.

For me it very lazy for any of them to do a song they have already done in the live shows. Also shows me that they not as versatile as an artist who can come on and sing a song just off the top of their own backs.

Anyone else? Unfortunately its not a singing contest, the judges think they can make more money from Cher as her image is supposedly better than Paiges. This is why I vote for Wagner and of course mainly because he is very talented. |

Every week we're promised a surprise from Cher; every week we get the same old same old.
Every week we're told how original she is; every week she's so predictable. Yet again this week, no suprises. As for singing the same song again? Well, that's just predictable Cher for you!

Yes, it was a cop out, because she was seeking to tag onto that sing off memories of what was considered to be her shining moment. She did her Greatest Hit, and not as well as the first time, rather than risk doing something new. She was put through at judges' houses based on past glory, and shouldn't have got through again on a sing off on the same basis.
But, as with Katie versus Aiden, it was a foregone conclusion who was going between those two tonight, no matter the song choice or performance. By rights Louis should have saved Paije, he had been his most consistent supporter throughout, right back to auditions, but he followed the Cowell script. |

I think there should be a rule. Singing a song you did for the main show gives you an unfair advantage - you spend a lot more time practicing it with vocal coaches etc than you would for the save me song. So Cher went into the sing off having spent way more time getting help with her song than Paige. Unevens the playing field a bit.
