Is Simon's ego the problem?
When the X-Factor started part of the joy of watching was to hear Simon's critique of the artists - he told it how it was regardless of who's act (even his own sometimes) it was. If a performance was below par not only did you sit there and cringe for what was seen but for what was coming from Simon. When did it change? Why has it changed? Was it because the public chose artists he found difficult to work with (Steve Brookstein for instance), because he felt the "best" artist hadn't won or because his ego over the years has taken over? We don't get the impartiality any more. He definitely "hears" something different to the viewers 9 times out of 10. As others have said on here 4 times in the bottom would never have happened a couple of series ago. I certainly get the feeling that the judges are saying what they've been told to say rather than what they really feel - I really can't believe Danni's critique of Cher last night. From someone who once enjoyed and respected Simon's opinion I now find him predictable and a parody of the man he was.

For me, the moment he changed as a judge was on BGT when that little girl started crying, and Susan Boyle had a meltdown. Suddenly everyone was accusing him and the show of being too harsh on contestants. He has mellowed since then, and I think he also just wants to win with his own act. I couldn't stand being beaten by Cheryl for a few years in a row either.

Agree they dont criticise any act its all "oh you were fantastic" unless of course its the moderately talented ones like vagner or jedward who actually have personality then they can't wait to criticise. Same with the phone calls any intresting caller who actually dares to criticise an act other than vagner gets booed, and they are the only ones we are relying on to actually give " real opinions". But all the stupid boring sychophantic callers get cheers. I know thats a different issue but its a related one.

He is the worst judge on the panel right now.
Completely blindind by his ego. So yes, that's his problem.
