Neither Imagine or Hippy Hippy Shake were originally recorded by the Beatles

I think it was Hedgehoppers Anonymous and a bloke called Lennon

I'd remove the cool icon - Hedgehoppers Anonymous recorded 'It's Good News Week' - the UK hit version of Hippy Hippy Shake was the Swinging Blue Jeans - although there is a cut on 'The Beatles Live at the BBC' which demonstrates that the Beatles did actually record it in a BBC session BEFORE the Swinging Blue jeans (but, that said, the REAL original was by Chan Romero, who wrote it).

Not 'originally' recorded, but The Beatles did record it. The Swinging Blue Jeans had the biggest hit with it.

'A bloke called Lennon?'

God bless John.

Two useless factoids about this:

Hippy Hippy Shake is a milkshake bar in Whitby.

Someone in a pub quiz said that it was recorded by (they meant the Swinging Blue Jeans) and they called it the Swinging Blowjobs.
