Song choices
Does anyone know how this is done. For example does the mentor just tell the act what they are going to do or is there a sort of consultation and a chat about it. Do they try a couple of songs or is there no room to rethink. I presume they get told and thats it but if I was a mentor I would want the act to feel happy and confident with the song. If the acts just get it imposed it could help explain some lacklustre efforts.

Song choices are just another aspect of how the show is manipulated.

I suspect you are right. I just wondered if anyone had read anything about what goes on.
If I was a mentor I wouldnt bother with exotic locations come the final selection stage, I would take the 6 acts I had to a rehearsal room and get them going thru their paces and get them to try the type of material they would be facing in the themes etc to get a good idea of range, ability and attitude. When we get to the tv shows and it came to a show like this weekends Beatles theme I would have a song or two in mind for any act I had left and ask them what they fancied then go thru them to see what might work best. Altho they get called mentors I wonder how much effort they put in. |
