But you cannot keep adding unlimited features without considering battery life and taking into account its size and weight. There has to be a balance.

Until another phone comes out with good battery life and instant push email I will stick with Blackberry's! Got an iPod touch so I know what an iPhone is mostly capable off.

Apple will eventually add 1080p recording, but not next year as there's not much point in them using that partciular innovation so soon after introducing 720p. The reason why LG is adding it is because nobody is buying their phones, they need something big to differentiate them from the huge competition. Apple don't need to play that card quite yet, they can quite happily continue to use 720p and their phones will still sell like hotcakes

Another thing with 1080p recording is the storage space. 720p files take up quite a lot of space on my iPhone, you'd need huge storage capacities to sucessfully store those videos alongside apps and photos. Sure it'd be a nice feature to have, but I doubt we'll see it in the next iphone. I suspect it'll be a minor update:

Apple iphone 2g to 3g: minor update of technology
3g to 3gs: minor update
3gs to iphone 4: major update

I suspect the next phone will be a minor update

That suits me then. I like my Iphone 4 design wise compared to the old 3GS.

It could also be a major update due to the market share Android is getting. I'm suspecting it may just a wee update myself but people say that bar the retina screen the iphone 4 is just a evolution of the 3Gs ie next camera sensor up, next level up video update, next battery up etc. So this i5 could easily be a revolutionary update rather than a evolutionary... They need WOW factor to spin away all the issues with white i4 & antennagate too.

Doesn't mean the shape of the phone has to change with a major update..

LG Optimus can record at 1080p video so it's almost certain Apple will up the resolution as the way phones are heading is Full HD support.

I read somewhere Apple may remove buttons from the next Iphone so it may allow a 3"7 inch screen in the current design.

No. I doubt this will happen for iPhone 5. The entire Apple ecosystem is based around 720p, and they've given no indication they have any interest in 1080p at this time. Apple TV, films on iTunes, all 720p. Those would be more appropriate for the 1080p treatment before their phone.

Quite right, that would be the logical choice.

Current keyboard is better than most if not all hard keyboards.

No chance of FM radio when everything is going DAB soon.

One of the new iPod shuffles has FM and I read FM will be around a bit longer yet.

I have a 4G iPod Touch and no it isn't .

The only two places where DAB is remotely popular is the UK and Denmark, so DAB is a non-starter.

The US is looking at requiring all mobile phones to have FM.

Almost all phones in the UK have the FM radio even a £30 spare phone I have. The iPhone should have this feature I don't need DAB on it as there is radio apps.

I would like:

FM radio & transmitter.
Bluetooth file transfer with non-iPhones.
Tethering not controlled by the carrier.
More physical buttons, not less.
Updated Google Maps app (fat chance!).
Other than that and more of the usual stuff - i.e. battery, memory, speed - I don't see as there's much more you can practically add without changing it into something that it isn't. All the big stuff's been done.

1. FM radio (transmitter good but not essential).
2. Personal WiFi hotspot capability like in Android
3. Battery improvement
4. Bigger screen
5. More buttons (I like having those extra buttons on android and wp7, found them easier to pick up than ios).

Personally I like hardware keyboards but I know it's not the iphone way.

All agreed, apart from the bigger screen. I think the existing 3.5 incher is about right. Bigger screen = bigger phone, and I don't want a bigger phone.

Main thing I would like is proper/full Bluetooth-why does Apple only give us a crippled one?

Battery you could change

Memory you can upgrade

Working alarm clock

No dropped signals because you don't use some sort of secret masonic hand shake.

Good for the 1% of users who do this.

Other than a couple days of glitches it works.

We are not on AT&T in the UK . Don't believe the anti-mac propaganda. Our iPhone drops fewer calls than our Vodafone Nokia.

Iplayer is already available on iPhone and very good it is too!

I wouldn't mind more codecs so that we can play AVI files etc without having to convert them to mp4 which I can say is a pain in the arse.

Also someway to shield GSM or whatever it's caleld as I have been told that most iPod/iPhone speaker docks out there have the speakers go fuzzy when you receive a text/call which is annoying if you are trying to listen to an album on the speakers.

Oh and Flash support. Gotta have Flash support.

I'm one of the IP4 users who really does lose signal if i hold my phone. I dont do a death grip, i literally hold it as anyone would and it gets on my nerves.

Infact I'm hoping apple pull it out of the bag this year as to be honest I'm starting to get a little bored with iOS, same screens everytime, why cant we have themes and the like?

I'm not after a major hardware revision (all i want is a working antenna) My wish list is more software side. I have a severe android itch that may get scratched if the new iPhone isn't up to much

You can't tell someone not to post propaganda before posting some straight from the Steve Jobs reality distortion field.
