You can stream audio from an iOS device to an AirPort Express or an AppleTV. You can stream video from an iOS device to AppleTV.
Ah, well sod that, then.

I'll be sticking with Air Video, after all.

It's a stunningly epic fail. I mean seriously WTF.

3GS users clearly don't deserve Apple's amazingly brilliant text tones. They're too amazingly brilliant for us to handle.

I wouldnt mind if the already provided text message tones were not so crap in the first place!

Its not the end of the world of course.

I agree.

It's just bewildering.

I'm sure theyll be added later as it's pretty much unexplainable.

I just noticed that if you tap the google search box on a web page it changes to "find on this page" and shows the results dynamically, if you then click search it goes to a google search.

I've always wanted search on page!

Complainers: How many other manufactures add loads of features to their 'old' models of phone through updates?

IOS 4 is all about Iphone 4.. whatever the 3 & 3Gs gets from new firmware is just a bonus. They however should have made it a bit faster/stable on older phones though.

I had a fun bug with my iphone 4 earlier where none of my music would show up in the Ipod Part of the phone and had to re sync the phone with Itunes to fix it.

Exactly.

There are still old Android handsets stuck on 1.5. A lot of which are newer than the 3GS. And the others still don't understand the concept of firmware updates.

I had this the day before the 4.2.1 release on my 3GS, was very annoying as I noticed when I was out and wanted to listen to some music, ended up having to stream the radio.

Also agree with The Lord Lucan I don't understand why people expect new features with an update. Although the fact that Apple still sell the 3GS on their website I don't see how he can call it an old model.

Yes I love having these new firmwares from newer models for free. It's great and I love it.

I find it stupid that they can't throw in simple text tones though - with other phones you can add new text tones but you can't buy new ones on the iPhone so it's the least they could have done. It's not asking the world is it? A few aiff files? Especially taking into account the vast firmware update from 3 to 4.

Well the update was as much for IAds and HP printing though simply adding postscript printing could have covered far more devices in one shot.

4.3 is due very soon and by the sound of it for Rupert Murdoch's paper and others. This being a better payment subscription system.

The only new features on my 3GS are:

New Voice Memos Icon - which looks horrible
New Print Option - which will never be used

The only new features on my mothers year and a half old samsung are . . . .none.

She also didn't have a massive upgrade to iOS4.0 6 months ago either.

You have VERY little to moan about I'm afraid.

It's pish they'd held back text tones - but considering what else I've got for free , which weren't included when i decided to buy the phone , I'm not upset.

I can't think of any that are on anything less than 1.6, that were released after the 3GS, and are not the cheapest of the cheap.

After all, it wouldn't do to compare cheap Android phones to the iPhone, which is expensive and higher-end.

I should have learnt my lesson with iOS4 on my 3G. Updated it yesterday, it crashed halfway through, had to restore phone to factory settings and then spend ages synching my apps and ringtones back and getting the apps where I wanted them on the screen. Seriously not bothering with any updates now until I get a 4 next year..
