XFactor 11.12.2010 peaks 14.2m (does not include HD)

HD averaged 1m peaked 1.2m.
What was the average for TXF? That's the highest ever peak for a Saturday episode of TXF.

Also do you know how the other programmes rated - SCD, JLS, Take Me Out etc?

Peak of 15.4m for X Factor, that I think is a 15 minute peak as well. What was the average dubsj?

How many viewers watched this on HD, dubsj?

Strictly 10.6m peaked 11.3m / 43.1%
Casutalty 4.2m / 15.5%
Total Wipeout 4m / 15.0%
SCD rated about as I expected. Casualty and Total Wipeout rated better than I expected, especially the latter which I was expecting to get 3-4m considering it was a repeat. Seems like BBC1 held up pretty well during the first half of the evening.

XFactor averaged 13.0m
Thanks. So that's a 14m average for TXF (inc. HD). I think that's a solid audience considering the earlier start and bearing in mind last year's final didn't go up week-on-week whereas yesterday's did by 0.3m. Terrible for This is JLS!

I think that's excellent for The X Factor, as last year's final Saturday show didn't increase at all, and it was in an earlier slot. The Saturday shows seem to have had real momentum this year that they didn't really have last year, as the ratings have increased most weeks, and have only dipped twice in the whole series (the second auditions show and te second live show) which is exceptional. Solid result for TMO as that should be mid-6s with HD. I did think it could have been a touch higher but it still performed well. SCD dipped quite a lot, which I suspect was down to a combination of an earlier slot and no Ann.

There are two ratings that really surprised me, for very different reasons, as Total Wipeout was about 1.5m above my expectations and performed very solidly for a repeat, whilst JLS totally tanked! Horrible rating for them.

Only 14m for the first half of the TXF Final?

Seriously?

I begin to wonder if my average 19m prediction for tonight is a looking a bit ambitious?

The 10.6m for SCD is exactly what I expected, but TW and Casualty did massively well in the circumstances!

Of course it's ambitious, you've deliberately overpredicted by a long way so you can say "oh it didn't rate as well as expected... it's a dreadful rating" . The average prediction for TXF Final Results show by nearly 40 players on the RPG is 16.5m. Your 19m prediction was the highest prediction out of everyone!

Your predictions for Corrie, Take Me Out, TXF (Sat), ABBA and Life Stories were also well over the general expectation - I wonder why !

What ratings did you expect it to get?

It's up on last year by 1.6m.

You obviously don't remember last year Robbie where the first half of the final was actually lower than 2008 and lower than previous week.

ITV Press Centre says The X Factor averaged 14.1m (slightly better than first reported). The 5-minute peak was 15.4m.

This would have been a better ITV1 schedule for the weekend...

Saturday 11th December
18:00 You've Been Framed!
19:00 This is JLS
20:00 Take Me Out
21:00 Life Stories: Cheryl Cole (R)
Yes if you wanted ITV to have very low ratings on a Saturday night!

Great for Take Me Out. Highest rated episode. Hope it continues to be strong when TXF ends.

First off, fantastic rating for XF. Considerably up on last year and last week. Even better when you think it started earlier and ran for 2 hours with quite a bit of filler inbetween. That should ensure tonights is at least 16m.

JLS completely flopped and I hope this makes ITV reconsider comissioning shows featuring ex XF contestants and putting them on ITV primetime. This really should have been on ITV2. Considering how much it flopped I thought SCD would have been higher. I know it had the early slot, but even so this weekend has been a slight disappointment and I definitely reckon some of it is the Widdecombe factor. Will be interesting to see how it does for the final next weekend.

The rest of BBC1's schedule held up remarkably well though. I thought we'd be seeing Casualty sub 4m and considering TW was a repeat, I'm very surprised it wasn't sub 3m.

So, probably around 6.5m for TMO inc HD. Great figure, but considering the lead in I would have expected slightly more as I thought the two audiences would crossover more than that. Also it's only about 1.5m higher than the highest rated episode in January which didn't have a strong lead in at all IIRC.

Don't get your hopes up too high. All-Star Mr & Mrs failed to get any long-term boost from being the filling in the 2009 BGT Final. Seven days later its ratings plummeted by nearly 4m (although I don't expect TMO to do that bad.)

I can see Take Me Out being solid but with no X Factor lead in and Casualty facing less stiff competition, Take Me Out won't be growing its audience in my opinion.

Well Eastenders has hung on all year unexpectedly to the number one audience and, given that nothing at Christmas will get that high, it just remains to see how many will stay with XF over its two hours-I think if it was just an hour there would be no doubt. The BBC could not have been much more accommodating so it remains to be seen.

The reduction in SCD audience is slightly concerning, the basic audience isnt much more than 9 million imo and its been a great achievement to refresh the show and drag more people in with that momentum. However the sight of Widdy being dragged about has been a huge draw and it shows just how important it is getting the right people on it. I think that is going to be the biggest headache to SCD continued success.

And I think that has been proved with I'm A Celebrity this year. They had a headline maker in Gillian McKeith but it also helped that the weekend shows followed The X Factor.

It'll be interesting to see how Strictly does next week. They bring all of the contestants back for the final show and it has a primetime start so it could be getting 12-13 million on the overnights.

TMO also had to deal with The Xtra Factor taking away a chunk of its potential audience last night. Swings & roundabouts really.

What, really!!!!? The Xtra Factor had 7 million viewers!!!!!???? Fantastic!!!!!

I'm not having a go at TMO's ratings. It's more than I predicted (6m) in the Ratings Predictions Game. I just saying it doesn't necessarily follow that last night will give it a long-term boost. There's a test for it next week when it goes against Casualty in the middle of the Strictly final.
