Yes, I remember having to explain to my flatmate once why Keeping Up Appearances was on at 7.30 and 'stEnders was on at eight, they were baffled. The one time it really backfired on ITV was when they showed an hour-long Emmerdale before the Brits, to boost the Brits, but everyone just switched over to 'stEnders at eight instead, so in fact the Brits did worse than the previous year.
I also remember a year or so before, when the Brits were on at 8.30, they dropped The Bill and showed a You've Been Framed repeat instead, seemingly to give it a better lead-in, and my parents were totally confused.

That is an impressive weekend. That said, I'd have suggested that at Easter they should have done a big trailer for Easter on BBC1 with the new series of Doctor Who and Ashes To Ashes and the Jonathan Creek special, which would have looked fantastic.

I don't know why people are turning their nose up at "filler" on Strictly when it was a live Take That performance, given the other week everyone was predicting record X Factor ratings as Justin "Who?" Bieber was on it. People have heard of Take That, and if they don't like them, they're not going to go to the end of a JLS special, are they?
