Is Peep Show aimed at E4's 16-34 year olds? I would have taken out the teenagers and gone to up middle age,

Shame we can't see how it's doing in the officials. C4's top thirty is filled with multiple episodes of just four shows!!

Wasn't there a time when they only put the highest rated edition in the top 30's?

Peep Show is normally repeated on E4 (and Dave from January). But they seem to be shuffling these sitcoms about because The IT Crowd reruns are now shown on E4 as well as More4.

Off topic massively, but I didn't think it was possible for me to hate Cowell and his jumped up karaoke contest any more - until I heard the winner's song on YouTube. What a complete and utter travesty.

I defy even the most hardened of TXF fanboys to listen to this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCyHYfM2pyo

and then the Biffy Clyro original:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAh--lH0H3U

and hand on heart say Mr Cardie's version is either superior or adds anything to it. What's the point in doing a lightweight lift-music cover and then vanishing into obscurity?

At least when wots'ername covered Hallelujah 2 years ago, she brought her own unique interpretation to it, and actually turned out a not too bad cover.

I hope the backlash amongst real music fans really turns up a notch this year. The man needs stopping before he destroys the music industry single-handed.

Meh, they're both as dull as each other. If you're looking for a real karaoke contest you want to try the singers with the house band on Strictly. Never have so many records been destroyed by such a poor bunch of 'professional singers'. They really make you appreciate the talent on The X Factor.

Oh and Strictly's also responsible for the relaunch of Alesha Dixon's career, surely the biggest crime against music, that girl can't sing for shit.

Overreaction of the year...

The Biffy Clyro version is #6 on the iTunes chart. Cardle leads. If still the same tomorrow then we can safely assume he'll get the Christmas no.1 as when physical sales are included it will wipe the floor with everything else.

I agree it's a shame it's ruined the spectacle of the Christmas number one, but generally chart music has been uninspiring for some time anyway. Cowell has just further contributed to that rather than been directly responsible for it.

According to iTunes he is outselling #2 (Rihanna and Drake) by like 4:1.... so IMO I think he has got it in the bag (but you know, anything can happen)... but tomorrow the CD physically comes out, right? and that has other songs on it, so load0s of people will buy that too.

As for ratings, great for Daybreak, highest ever apart from launch?? Matt was on it, that's probably why.

Great for the soaps too.

4 Ellie Goulding
5 The Black Eyed Peas

Biffy is top 10 with sales of 15,000 so far

We're all TV anoraks, so we know it's six self-contained stories, but most people would have looked at last night's listings and presumed it was a serial, so there was no point in watching it after missing the first few episodes.

I watched part of last night's episode, but I get the feeling it's missing something. I can't put my finger on it, but something's missing.

Looks pretty conclusive to me. No surprises this year. X Factor's position at the top of the singles chart looks as secure as its position at the top of the ratings chart.

Were A & C actually on Daybreak yesterday (you will gather from this I did not see it)

The Afghanistan episode was the best to date. Mackenzie Crook gave an amazing performance in that episode. Since then it's lost it a bit and the past two stories have been a bit poor with too much suspension of reality required. Last night's also suffered from an unoriginal and cliched story.

Overall it's not been as consistently good as The Street unfortunately, more hit and miss, but still worth watching. The below par ratings are not really a fair reflection of its quality. It's unjust for example that Holby City has 6m+ and Accused can't even muster 4m. But I guess McGovern's stuff is pretty tough going a lot of the time and suffers because of that.

Someone mentioned the lack of reality formats as the singing, dancing thing has all been done.

It might be interesting if someone revived the Sky attempt at matching Strictly and Dancing on Ice. It was actually pretty good but soon got axed.

With Ant and Dec helming it and some decent celebs that a bigger budget would afford then it could be a hit.

It has the showy glitz of Strictly and the 'will they fall and break their neck' factor from DOI.

I am talking about the circus performing series Sky did in a naff tea time slot a year or two back, But it took real skill to learn the routines and they often went wrong. In the right hands that show has to have potential.

Viewers nominating celebs to be one half of the knife throwing act next week might make ITV some money as well.

Cannot recall what Sky called it. But think Celebrity Big Top and that is pretty much it.

Cirque du Celebrite?

As I remember it wasnt too bad, sadly they attracted only extreme W-Listers. And Ruby Wax was the host

The Strictly singers and band get such a lot of stick, but I don't think anyone really appreciates how hard their job is.

They don't pick songs to suit them - they have to make do with whatever the hell the couples want, perform them in the style the couples want (no "make it your own" leeway here), even if its way out of their comfort zone. Given that there's only a few singers, and they have as many as 12-14 songs to learn and perform each week, then I reckon they make a pretty good fist of it. I'd love to see Matt Cardle do better...

Looks like the BGT judging panel is being confirmed today, see breaking news banner.

McIntyre is an interesting choice. Hasselhoff we already knew about. I'm guessing Holden completes the trio?

Everyone seen the breaking news? Interesting choices..
Two men..and who else?

McIntyre should be a breath of fresh air, adding a new name to the ITV Talent-glad they haven't gone for a safe option.

Not really keen on Hasselhoff though, especially the UK version.

I guess this means Simon won't be on the judging panel, because they wouldn't have three guys surely? The other name must be Amanda, because they need some familiarity-otherwise three new judges is an extremely risky move.

I'll tell you what, this could be the first 'string' needed for ITV to poach McIntyre from BBC... could they?

McIntyre's a good choice in my view. Not sure about Hasselhoff.

McIntyre seems like a good pick. Hasselhoff unsurprising but not sure whether I'm keen.
