Looks like the next series of Million Pound Drop Live will be on at 8pm between Wednesday 15th December and Saturday 18th December.

It's going to face some tough competition including Emmerdale, Coronation Street, EastEnders, The Royal Performance Show and possibly the Strictly Come Dancing Grand Final (Saturday schedules yet to be confirmed).

Has George Dixon already moved to Channel 4 ?! Personally I'd have had it on at 9pm on Sunday 19th to Tuesday 21st December and 10pm on Weds 22nd December to avoid The Apprentice final. Competition on 19th to 21st would've been easier than what it's going to actually face.
That really is crap scheduling. Firstly, its a stretch to call them Christmas Specials when the final show is wrapped up a week before the big day.

Secondly, its overkill, when will the last series have finished? 6 weeks before? It seems to be going down the Millionaire overkill route but without the 19m viewers to slowly lose down the years.

Lastly, its just terrible scheduling to put a new show which is obviously doing good business for C4 ( they dont have many either now) against that opposition. Ridiculous.

Maybe George Dixon will be a step up for C4?

The rating that stands out to me is Miranda - an excellent rating for BBC2. Emmerdale, EastEnders, Coronation Street and I'm A Celebrity... did well, though under the old BARB I'm assuming that I'm A Celebrity... would be down on last year as it's only up by 1% and the new system adds 4% (have I got that right? ) Coppers performed really well.

It's poor scheduling but it's hardly overkill - I suspect that they're effectively unaired episodes from the second series - and even with these we're only at 19 editions for the whole year - and for a show stripped nightly that's equivalent of less than 4 weeks worth.

8pm is ridiculous - they should definately give it a shot at 9pm where I think it could get 3m+ dependent on competition, but anything "live" pre-watershed instantly loses it's edge - and it would probably end up on a delay too. Personally I'd have waited till the New Year and aired two weeks of the show in January.

Some important dates for Australian market:

25 Nov: The Ashes 2010 coverage begins on Channel Nine
26 Nov: Home and Away series finale
27 Nov: Official ratings year ends, final shares revealed
17 Dec: Neighbours series finale
3 Jan: Neighbours series premiere
11 Jan: Eleven launches, Neighbours and The Simpsons switch channels, Ten's replacements debut
17 Jan: Australian Open 2011 coverage begins on Channel Seven

Home and Away's 2011 premiere date hasn't yet been announced, but if it follows the same pattern as last year it will be 24th Jan, an 8 week break.

As Channel 5 is currently 6 weeks behind, that would mean it would need to take at least 3 weeks off for Christmas/New Year.

Re the Royal Wedding, the papers tomorrow are leading on the holiday bonanza brought about by two consecutive 4 day holiday weekends - with school holidays too around Easter, it suggests the country will damn near shut down between Maundy Thursday and May Day Holiday Monday. That may depress ratings somewhat if millions more than normal jet off somewhere for 10 days.

Perhaps the wedding won't be as big a ratings buster as we all expect then if everyone's away? (It will obviously still be massive)

I also see there is reference to a celebratory pop concert in Hyde Park over the holiday weekend. That could be a winner for whichever of BBC1 or ITV1 gets that, if it happens - presumably the Saturday after the wedding. You'd think it would be a BBC1 event - could be a big rater. Party at the Palace got 12-16m at Jubilee 2002.

Media Spy. It appears Neighbours will return on Ten for 6 more episodes in the new year before being shunted to Eleven.

it is logical to air it on TEN for a breif time before it moves to ELEVEN.

Still not exactly sure when Five stops airing it this year, looks like it go air at least till the 23rd of 24th

CNN could be a good option, although if he wants something celebrity led perhaps ITN is the best route to go down?

I have visions of him trying to do it himself from the offices of the Daily Express...
ITN would be good as would CNN but I can't see dropping serious stories in favour of celebrity gossip I imagine it'll be a balance of heavy and lighter news stories, the Five News Special on William and Kate did very well and could be an indicator of what the new Five News could be like.

Miranda has become BBC Two's not so hidden gem and I think if it can increase, a move to BBC One is likely.

UK TV Guide has updated and taking the 9pm slot on Thursday 16th December is... Celebrity Grimefighters!
I thought this was silly scheduling....

Looks like the next series of Million Pound Drop Live will be on at 8pm between Wednesday 15th December and Saturday 18th December.
...then I seen this. Really Channel 4? What's the point in that? Talk about throwing it to the wolves. Although I do note Hollyoaks has a special late night episode on the Wednesday at 10pm.

New series of Alan Carr's Chatty Man starts on Monday 13th December at 10pm.

It will be interesting to see how Neighbours' replacement will do on Ten. Whereas 0.58m is far from a good rating, it is consistent, and is around the same level as the other programmes on the channel. Perhaps a different programme would suffer the same fate?

Given that I'm a Celebrity normally gets 0.5m+ in HD, seems like it won the night!

Good ratings though for BBC1 until 9pm, The One Show and EastEnders still did well, the former showing ratings we're more accustomed to at this time of the year.

Poor for ITV at 8pm, but it seemingly didn't affect Celebrity. Horrendous for C4 at 9pm.

Strong rating for IAC yesterday, up almost 20% from the same episode last year once HD is factored in. The Family rated very poorly.

If they are thinking costs (public purse and all that) I'd rather see the concert delayed until 2012 (which I think is more likely) for the Queens Diamond Jubilee (another freebie bank holiday)

What a fantastic rating for IAC-even with the really poor lead in it beat Saturdays episode which had an XF lead in! Also most watched show of the day is great. Looking how much The Zoo fell from last week just shows how valuable the Emmerdale lead in was to it.

Another awful rating for The Family and I'm not sure whether it'll recover after IAC finishes. Silly, silly scheduling.

I think some of the programmes where mentioned in the previous thread http://t.co/wCZyFgl

Good night I'm A Celebrity, it's good to see it come back over recent years after what seemed like a dip that would have continued. Also hopefully Neighbours can keep building on its ratings which have been good for the past month.

That Miranda repeat wasn't billed in the Radio Times, or anywhere, I don't think. Last week they showed the repeat on Wednesday at 7.30, unbilled, but this week it was billed on Wednesday with Mock The Week on Tuesday at 10pm. But in fact Miranda was shown last night and Escape to the Country is now an hour long at 7pm tonight.

Clearly this has been a last minute decision as next week's Radio Times says in the billing for Monday's show the repeat is on Wednesday at 7.30, but it's actually billed on Tuesday at ten. I dunno what happened there, presumably they decided to do a repeat, put it at 7.30, then decided it was unsuitable for such an early slot?
