You do like to exaggerate things a bit, don't you? It was only when Anniversary week started when momentum kicked up a notch.

Compare that with this week's Coronation Street so far - the week before the 50th Anniversary - we have 10.6m, 9.9m and 9.9m. So trying to make out Coronation Street is not doing well doesn't really cut it, really.”

I like this post.

Yes, 15.6m was for the 20:00-20:30 slot.

14.9m was the average for 20:00-20:35. The tape-checked rating was lower because EastEnders finished about 20:33 and the next 2 minutes was QI which had a rating of ~4m, so that lowered the 20:30-20:35 average, hence lowering the overall tape-checked average.

Ah, I see. Thanks rzt. I didn't know the running times for that episode. Makes sense now.

Yeah, I used DS's rating - wasn't prepared to go wading through a million parts of this thread to find it.

Actually no!
I said EastEnders had ratings over 10milion for about 2 months.I didn't say which months did i.
Right from Mid December to Late Jan/Early-mid Feb EastEnders didn't fall below 10million

I didn't try to make out Corrie wasn't doing well But at the time Of the 25th Half the country wasn't Buried under inches of Snow so i don't think you can say Corrie's ratings this week has anything todo with the 50th seeing as Most TV shows are up this week

D.M.N, you're quoting overnights. If we go with the officials Dan2008 is correct. Eastenders only dropped below 10m once in the officials in 2010 prior to the live show - 9.93m on Friday 5th February.

The 12m audience was on New Year's Day.

Is this a preview for next week?

If Corrie does poorly it's because it's not as good as EastEnders, If it does well it's because of the snow?!

Oh Dan, you always bite don't you!

OK, a few pointers and FACTS!! EE hit 10m+ just TWICE, that's TWICE in December 2009. And these are the official ratings I'm quoting not the overnights. In the overnights it hit 10m+ just once and that was Xmas Day...so that doesn't really count does it, cos it's expected! The December 2009 average was 9.13m officially (and 8.6m in the overnights).

Moving swiftly on...January 2010 saw EE perform very well. But this was probs down to the snow we had and not the momentum for the 25th Anniversary. Officially it averaged 10.93m for January (10.3m in the overnights). For comparison purposes Corrie officially averaged 11.08m (9.9m in the overnights).

Finally for February. No question, this was EE's best month of the year so far. 11.00m officially and again 10.3m in the overnights. The anniversary week obviously boosted the monthly average here. Whereas Corrie had 10.62m officially and 9.6m in the overnights.

So...on this evidence, Corrie time-shifts alot better than EE. EE did have a good January and February, but so did Corrie. Both did well due to the extreme weather conditions. Pretty much compared to what's happening now. These are the facts Dan. Corrie has been boosted this week by the poor weather, but so was EE in the lead up to the Anniversary, so I fail to see your point, except that, as usual you can't deal with Corrie performing well for some bizzare reason!

I could actually turn that onto the corrie lot.
If it beats EastEnders it's becuase it's a much better storyline...and if it doesn't Beat EastEnders then everyones out xmas shopping, making snowmen or at xmas party's

No!EastEnders has been doing well In December long before we had any snow and as i said Right now Corrie is up but then so was Emmerdale,The one show ect

EastEnders had been doing well 2 months before the snow had even hit us

EE didn't have a great December really. Did you not read my post?! Jeez, these are the facts and figures. They don't lie.

I never said it wasn't doing well in January, but my point was everything was doing well. So nothing really to do with the build up, cos Corrie even averaged better in January and their Anniversary isn't until next week!

Exactly and that had nothing todo with the snow.
Yes EastEnders saw a boost on snow Day to around 12million and corrie's seen a boost to over 10million but EastEnders was performing very well long before that.

Realistically anything between 4 and 7 million people are going to come out of the woodwork to gawp at the Corrie live episode in the same way as they did for EE. I dont think many of these people are doing it because of the skilful storyline or whether one is better than the other-its because they want to see whether there is any drama on top of the drama-ie whether anyone makes a complete pratt of themselves on live tv.

I do agree with this, but even as someone who really isnt a Corrie fan, I would be surprised if the Corrie: Live episode does not ourate the EE: Live ep, taking this year out of the equation, it really has been the No 1 soap.

That said I dont think Corrie: Live will do too much better than EE: Live.

EE: 10.93m
Corrie: 11.08m

On first viewings. If people added the BBC3 repeat which accounts for around 1m each episode then the picture changes.

Also Dan. The official average for December 2009:

EE: 9.13m
Corrie: 9.25m

So again, no, it was ahead overall!

The soap official averages are always calculated on first showings as it's impossible to factor in all the repeats etc as we don't have access to all these ratings. rzt's soap updates are based on average by first showing also.
