There are some strange ones there - ITV doesn't have a Yorkshire & Lincolnshire region, BBC has one based on Hull so what's happened to Look North Leeds.And ITV doesn't have a full programme for the South-east. NE & Cumbria rather surprising as people on DS are always complaining about the poor coverage of ITV in that region.

..just very passionate about some shows..but tbh Corrie hasn't been one of them this year, it's only stepped up a gear in the last few weeks and next week really looks like the turning point, hopefully in both quality and ratings.

The tram crash is Monday with the aftermath over the next few days (hence the live episode on Thursday).

I hope ITV show it (or a shortened minute piece) on Sunday during The X Factor. They'd be stupid not to, quite frankly. They won't lose anything by showing it - if you ask me, people would be wanting more to tune in after seeing that.

The fact they're on BBC2 seems to suggest that there'll be a drama series running at 9pm on Tuesdays in January. I'm a bit surprised that the BBC didn't go for the Wednesday leg of the Arsenal match and show it on BBC1 but I guess Sky might've prevented that from happening from their picks.


Yeah ITV doesn't have a Yorkshire & Lincolnshire region. Those figures are people living in those regions watching whatever ITV equivalent of regional news there is. Likewise for the other regions which ITV don't have.

i just think everything points to corrie's favour(The weather,The good promotion from the Press and the Promotion through the x factor and everything)


EastEnders beat Emmerdale in the head-head and the BBC3 repeat has seen a massive figure and things will be normal again tonight

In 2006 (EastEnders worst year in history of the show)
The Big stunt (Phill and Ian) wasn't really promoted but the main problem was it clashed with a HUGE Emmerdale storyline which rated very well

The Vic stunt yet again was not really promoted and clashed with Emmerdale

Peggy's exit got dented By Corrie (8:30-8:40pm) and was against the Big Brother lastever show which is popular with Young viewers (as is EastEnders)

Both the Fire and Peggys exit was promoted as 'September 2010' no actual date of event for casual viewers.

Look at the Big stunt for corrie back in May (which didn't go as planned) but ITV were prepared to Move it to 9:00pm around BGT so it pulled in Good ratings where as the BBC just leave EastEnders where it is

ITV will promoted Corrie Via X Factor (i thought that was a given)
So I take it corrie is set on the same night right across the week Because in the spoilers it says 8:30pm (monday) Tram crash and then on Friday 8:30pm episode the emergancy services arrive on the street so what happens in Tuesdays,Weds,Thursdays hour and Fridays 7:30pm episodes?

Not necessarily. Tuesday is Holby City night. Probably the BBC feel the ties aren't strong enough to justify moving it and upsetting its fans.

I stand by my prediction of 17.2m on Thursday and Most episodes From Monday wil be over 12 million or just under

Those regional news ratings are interesting.

To suggest some answers, Tyne Tees & Border probably does well due to the history of there being a strong North East Tonight and strong Lookaround. Look North Newcastle was probably unpopular in the Cumbria part of the region.

Granada have a history of being drivel during the showbizzy Granada Tonight era that they probably haven't been able to shake off now in the Granada Reports era. Plus the BBC has Gordon Burns who is popular.

17.2m for full slot overnights?! I'm not exactly sure where Corrie is going to pick up over 7m casual viewers from and a share over 60%

Well I've heard that,that trailer will be shown on TV from Tonight and nodoubt will be shown via X factor at the weekend.

where's the 7million coming from Becuase Mondays is likely to be 12/13m anyway and EastEnders rose by about 6 million didn't it

17.2m would mean that it would be the highest rated episode of Coronation Street since 2003.

I really cannot see it getting that, I really can't. By getting that you're also suggesting it'll outrate The X Factor Final.

Sorry... but no. Now that we have Thursday's rating (well, sort of), we can look at other past live episodes compared directly to the previous week episode (source - BARB) :

2003 - The Bill - 8.90m >> 10.41m (17% uplift)
2005 - The Bill - 6.05m >> 8.19m (35% uplift)
2010 - EastEnders - 10.41m >> 16.41m (58% uplift)

Unlike I think Cent (or C14E?) brilliant prediction for The X Factor Final Results show in comparison with American Idol I believe there isn't much baseline to use here. Or at least, I can't see a baseline.

Yesterday's overnight rating of ~10.2m (including HD), if it had the same uplift as EastEnders, could get 16.12m in the overnights, but I don't see that likely, really.

A lot depends on how much ITV hype it over the weekend.

All pretty low profile ratings wise.

No ITV prime-time game. Police would obviously not allow Man Utd v Liverpool (1st pick) to be prime-time and ESPN has then grabbed the two best timeslots (ie Sat 5.30pm and Sun 4pm) for the 2nd and 3rd picks.

Even with Man Utd v Liverpool, no prime-time means no big ratings which just makes the cost of the FA contract seem even more absurd.

And then BBC puts its two Carling semis on BBC2.

All points to more sport moving from terrestrial to Pay TV in the future.

If EastEnders can do it then corrie can IMO.
As i've said before Corrie has the benefits of having promotion Via The X factor this weekend and the Weather will also benefit it

While that is true, I do think EastEnders has the social networking effect on Facebook and Twitter - hence word of mouth (same applies to The X Factor, obviously more in X Factor's case). Coronation Street gets little mention on either site compared to EastEnders.

Apparently the ITV.com clip is being shown on The Alan Titchmarsh Show in a bit - no idea if during adverts or what.

maybe the X-Factor results show, should have a specail preformance from some of the better looking cast of Corrie, as a way to promote the show, I heard something on Radio 2 about an album, they could have one of the singers from that.

Some of the EastEnders storylines that hadn't been promoted did very well due to Word of Mouth,Twitter ect
But i think Corrie will be the same for this week and mainly Thursday.

A dark,Cold and possibly snowy evening with Very Little Comp on the Other channels people might just want to Watch Corrie LIVE (even just to see if there's any mistakes)

If they are going to show the trailer via Alan Titchmarsh show then they will sure show it through X factor(which could get 14/15m in it's self and IAC so my prediction still stands

BBC London did exceptionally well compared to London Tonight with 1.08m compared to 456k for LT. In Scotland there is only 70k seperating the two bulletins.

Just Looking at some very old threads Not only Did people complain about Enders 25th Getting loads of threads in the Soaps forun (you should see howmany their are for Corrie's 50th) but You will also see how most people thought 13/14m was about all EastEnders LIVE was going to get

There's also people saying how Corrie will want to make their 50th Storylines the biggest ever to compete against that figure They have and will
