The fact they're on BBC2 seems to suggest that there'll be a drama series running at 9pm on Tuesdays in January. I'm a bit surprised that the BBC didn't go for the Wednesday leg of the Arsenal match and show it on BBC1 but I guess Sky might've prevented that from happening from their picks.
Yeah ITV doesn't have a Yorkshire & Lincolnshire region. Those figures are people living in those regions watching whatever ITV equivalent of regional news there is. Likewise for the other regions which ITV don't have. |

Just Looking at some very old threads Not only Did people complain about Enders 25th Getting loads of threads in the Soaps forun (you should see howmany their are for Corrie's 50th) but You will also see how most people thought 13/14m was about all EastEnders LIVE was going to get
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...215187&page=33 I've not sure what will happen. I've learnt not to predict as much because you always expect the unexpected. Well, most of the time... anyway.

Everyone under-estimated the EastEnders numbers because it's previous episodes weren't as high as expected... then the live episode smashed everyone's expectations, and the BBC Three show smashed the multichannel record. Hence, the reaction: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...215187&page=38

As much as I think that video is terrific, does the anniversary mean that this thread is going to be taken over with soap wars for the next week? Can't wait if so.
Great ratings for ITV1 last night, though EastEnders held up well. I think the fantastic BBC3 figure is exactly why ITV do not give Emmerdale/Coronation Street a regular repeat slot - they want people to watch the first airing; not just think they can catch up at a convinient time later. I'm A Celebrity... had the best final 5 it's ever had (maybe Linford or dare I say Gillian should've been there for talking points instead of Kayla but otherwise...) and the ratings show for it. I'm not sure what they're going to do for the final though; I'm sure Ant and Dec said there would be an eviction tonight so that'd mean only two people for the final highlights show. Maybe that's why it's only an hour. As for the FA Cup, ITV have got a rubbish deal really. They'd do better taking the 2nd and 3rd choices and getting to pick the kick off times. Manchester united v Liverpool is wasted in the slot it has. To echo a famous football chant - what a waste of money. |

Will the final 3 all do a bushtucker challenge tonight then or will just the final 2 do one tomorrow? Just two people in camp for 24 hours would surely get quite awkward and surely we'll be getting around half an hour of highlights of just Stacey and Shaun? ![]() That said, I agree, the final 5 were excellent. After one of the most lacklustre series in recent years, the true personalities have finally come out and it's made comedy gold tbh. This final week has saved this series. |

It has been ITV's autumn after a summer of low ratings and total rubbish like Marco. Downton Abbey, I'm A Celeb, TXF, CS, Emmerdale, have delivered at least 8 million viewers. However, when the Cowell juggernaut ends and IAC's jungle shuts up shop, things could be quite thin for them again. OK Dancing On Ice is guaranteed around 8 million, but I reckon the soaps, CS in particular after its birthday, will fall back to 7-8 million. Unless, I hope, Primeval does a Doctor Who and gets 8 million.

Glenn- as you're from Cumbria, just wondering why you think out of all the places in England ITV regional news rates better there than BBC regional news? |

Here's a breakdown of yesterday's 6pm and 6.30pm Regional News programmes based on different regions so you can see which regions do best for each broadcaster:
Overall Network: BBC- 8.08m (33.0%), ITV- 4.61m (20.2%) East: BBC- 614k (34.9%), ITV- 253k (15.8%) London: BBC- 1.08m (28.3%) , ITV- 486k (13.3%) Midlands East: BBC- 325k (38.8%), ITV- 106k (13.0%) Midlands West: BBC- 682k (27.8%), ITV- 512k (22.8%) North East & Cumbria: BBC- 340k (22.4%), ITV- 406k (28.6%) North West: BBC- 639k (25.5%), ITV- 324k (14.6%) Scotland: BBC- 717k (31.9%), ITV- 647k (30.0%) South East: BBC- 401k (37.0%), ITV- 229k (22.5%) South: BBC- 602k (29.0%), ITV- 435k (22.4%) South West: 347k (43.3%), ITV- 135k (18.4%) Ulster: BBC- 218k (30.1%), ITV- 267k (37.6%) Wales: BBC- 346k (27.9%), ITV- 160k (15.0%) West: BBC- 276k (34.5%), ITV- 99k (13.9%) Yorkshire & Lincolnshire: BBC- 991k (37.1%), ITV- 556k (21.9%) The BBC does really well in the South West/East regions plus West/East. For some reason, they don't do so well for Look North (North East & Cumbria) region, although do very well in the neighbouring Yorkshire & Lincolnshire. Interesting that ITV beats the BBC in two regions: Ulster and North East & Cumbria. I can understand why UTV would beat the BBC for regional news but why does the ITV North East bit (Lookaround & possibly North East Tonight) do so well? Must say I'm surprised that the North West region rates so poorly for ITV considering it's supposed to be "ITV heartland". . Is it based on BBC regions, meaning Channel Report is included in 'South West' and Lookaround is split between 'North East & Cumbria' and 'Scotland'? |

Anyone heard if Dancing on Ice will air on Saturdays and Sundays ala X Factor this time?
They'd be mad not to do that! |

![]() -Emmerdale -Downton Abbey -The X Factor -I'm A Celebrity -Piers Morgans Life Stories -TV Burp -Monday Night Thrillers (for the most part) However there's quite a bit that's underperformed: -Law & Order -Thursday factual -Tuesday factual (although 71DN did OK) -Football (for the most part has been fairly low-can't remember how it compares with recent years though) I remember earlier in the year many (probably including myself) were predicting quite a bleak Autumn for ITV1, especially with the lack of Benidorm and Doc Martin, but XF, Emmerdale and IAC have posted increases on last year which has surprised many. Also Downton has easily filled the Doc Martin gap. Paul O'Grady hasn't matched the success of Benidorm, but has brought in a solid audience in what has been a tough Friday night slot for ITV1 this year. |

Interesting that Granada & BBC North West only have a 40% share combined.
Northern Ireland has a 68% share combined and Scotland 62% share (understandably). The highest combined share in England is the South West with 62% So regional news has varying interest in different parts of the country. Maybe it is because everyone in Cheshire watches Hollyoaks?! |

There's no Channel Report listed here?
Is it based on BBC regions, meaning Channel Report is included in 'South West' and Lookaround is split between 'North East & Cumbria' and 'Scotland'? I can, however, find yesterday's regional ratings for the 'Border' region: BBC- 93k (32.6%) , ITV- 108k (38.8%) Also for the 'South, South East and Channel Islands' region (perhaps the most relevant region I can find in regards to the Channel Islands), it was: BBC- 1.05m (37.5%), ITV- 683k (26.3%) I know that's not exactly 'Channel Report' but that's the best I could find. Scots are more likely than people living elsewhere in the UK to watch television as their main source of local news (64 per cent compared to the UK average of 49 per cent), and watch more local evening news (22 hours per year) than the UK average (17.9 hours per year). STV’s evening bulletin attracts a 24 per cent audience share and is more popular than the average of other bulletins on the ITV network, which have a UK-wide audience share of 19 percent.

Yesterday's news ratings:
BBC1 (inc. HD) 06:00- Breakfast: 2.15m (41.3%) ITV1 (exc. HD) 06:00- Daybreak: 957k (20.6%) 08:30- Lorraine: 1.27m (18.0%) BBC One 06:00- Breakfast: 1.25m (32.6%) ITV1 06:00- GMTV: 929,285 (24.0%) Source. Daybreak barely above GMTV in terms of raw numbers despite the weather situation, and share wise well below. Whilst Breakfast is going from strength-to-strength. |

I'm hoping ITV do split Dancing on Ice bteween the nights - though if they do they may have to dig deep and have the results live. Strictly lacks something on Sunday's because of the show being recorded.

of course share % is based on total viewers. so if the additional viewing audience all favour BBC then ITVs share declines despite its audience staying steady.
They didn't just "favour" Breakfast, they fled to it like bees to honey. Daybreak barely got a look-in on a busy news morning. Very embarrassing.

do did ITV break the gentlements agreement to not clash Corrie with EE? and why is the media not kicking off about it?
