I've not sure what will happen. I've learnt not to predict as much because you always expect the unexpected. Well, most of the time... anyway.

I think The BBC3 show will keep that record figure for quite sometime tocome.

Great ratings for ITV1 last night, though EastEnders held up well. I think the fantastic BBC3 figure is exactly why ITV do not give Emmerdale/Coronation Street a regular repeat slot - they want people to watch the first airing; not just think they can catch up at a convinient time later. I'm A Celebrity... had the best final 5 it's ever had (maybe Linford or dare I say Gillian should've been there for talking points instead of Kayla but otherwise...) and the ratings show for it. I'm not sure what they're going to do for the final though; I'm sure Ant and Dec said there would be an eviction tonight so that'd mean only two people for the final highlights show. Maybe that's why it's only an hour.

As for the FA Cup, ITV have got a rubbish deal really. They'd do better taking the 2nd and 3rd choices and getting to pick the kick off times. Manchester united v Liverpool is wasted in the slot it has. To echo a famous football chant - what a waste of money.

To be honest, I think the only reason for ITV stretching IAC out an extra day is to get the XF lead in and boost the final figure, because a one hour final with two contestants just doesn't seem much of an event.

Will the final 3 all do a bushtucker challenge tonight then or will just the final 2 do one tomorrow? Just two people in camp for 24 hours would surely get quite awkward and surely we'll be getting around half an hour of highlights of just Stacey and Shaun?

That said, I agree, the final 5 were excellent. After one of the most lacklustre series in recent years, the true personalities have finally come out and it's made comedy gold tbh. This final week has saved this series.

It has been ITV's autumn after a summer of low ratings and total rubbish like Marco. Downton Abbey, I'm A Celeb, TXF, CS, Emmerdale, have delivered at least 8 million viewers. However, when the Cowell juggernaut ends and IAC's jungle shuts up shop, things could be quite thin for them again. OK Dancing On Ice is guaranteed around 8 million, but I reckon the soaps, CS in particular after its birthday, will fall back to 7-8 million. Unless, I hope, Primeval does a Doctor Who and gets 8 million.

It won't fall that low. CS usually rates better than 7-8m during the Winter, at about 9m in the overnights and 10m or over in the officials. If there's snow in Jan/Feb, its ratings will certainly be over 7-8m. It only drops that low usually in the middle of summer.

Glenn- as you're from Cumbria, just wondering why you think out of all the places in England ITV regional news rates better there than BBC regional news?

Yep and i expect that sort of rating next Monday (when Corrie's 1st ep Clashes with Enders) and Thursday when Emmerdale clashes with it

Yeah, the positives for ITV this Autumn have definitely been:

-Emmerdale
-Downton Abbey
-The X Factor
-I'm A Celebrity
-Piers Morgans Life Stories
-TV Burp
-Monday Night Thrillers (for the most part)

However there's quite a bit that's underperformed:

-Law & Order
-Thursday factual
-Tuesday factual (although 71DN did OK)
-Football (for the most part has been fairly low-can't remember how it compares with recent years though)

I remember earlier in the year many (probably including myself) were predicting quite a bleak Autumn for ITV1, especially with the lack of Benidorm and Doc Martin, but XF, Emmerdale and IAC have posted increases on last year which has surprised many. Also Downton has easily filled the Doc Martin gap. Paul O'Grady hasn't matched the success of Benidorm, but has brought in a solid audience in what has been a tough Friday night slot for ITV1 this year.

Interesting that Granada & BBC North West only have a 40% share combined.

Northern Ireland has a 68% share combined and Scotland 62% share (understandably).

The highest combined share in England is the South West with 62%

So regional news has varying interest in different parts of the country. Maybe it is because everyone in Cheshire watches Hollyoaks?!

Yeah, the areas are based on BBC regions. ITV's changed their regions so much in recent years that I don't have the option to look at their regions directly.

I can, however, find yesterday's regional ratings for the 'Border' region: BBC- 93k (32.6%) , ITV- 108k (38.8%)

Also for the 'South, South East and Channel Islands' region (perhaps the most relevant region I can find in regards to the Channel Islands), it was: BBC- 1.05m (37.5%), ITV- 683k (26.3%)

I know that's not exactly 'Channel Report' but that's the best I could find.


Yeah, people in Scotland and N. Ireland watch more regional news than other parts of the country. This was mentioned in an Ofcom report a few months ago:

Daybreak barely above GMTV in terms of raw numbers despite the weather situation, and share wise well below. Whilst Breakfast is going from strength-to-strength.

I'm hoping ITV do split Dancing on Ice bteween the nights - though if they do they may have to dig deep and have the results live. Strictly lacks something on Sunday's because of the show being recorded.

of course share % is based on total viewers. so if the additional viewing audience all favour BBC then ITVs share declines despite its audience staying steady.

they aren't. the audience tickets are listed for Sundays.

I'm aware of what the share % represents and I still don't think it's a good result for Daybreak compared to 1 year ago. It barely advanced on its predecessor at all whilst Breakfast hit quite possibly an all-time high.

They didn't just "favour" Breakfast, they fled to it like bees to honey. Daybreak barely got a look-in on a busy news morning. Very embarrassing.

It's the 1st Episode of Corrie, not a normal episode. Don't think that really counts.

EastEnders clashes with a repeat of the first episode of Coronation St. from the 1960s. Hardly the same thing.
