I know Who would go up against Coronation Street, but... tough. It's never had any issues against Emmerdale and Emmerdale doesn't seem to have been too badly affected by the competition.

Only issue is the 30 minutes which sticks out a bit, would be better to go straight from The Queen to Wall-E, but I'm sure they can find a suitable filler somewhere.”

Yes, that may work - I think they should try SCD a bit earlier given what it can get at say 5.45 on a normal Saturday.

That said, I do like Fudd's schedule posted on the Christmas TV thread, slightly tweaked by me:

15.00 The Queen
15.10 Film: Wall-E
16.45 News
17.00 Film: Shrek the Third
18.30 EastEnders
19.00 Doctor Who
20.00 Strictly Come Dancing
21.00 EastEnders
21.30 The Royle Family
22.30 The One Ronnie
23.30 News and Weather

I think this is stronger than mine - this really would demolish ITV.

Dappy from N-Dubz is doing it so it seems there's definitely an Alternative Message this year. I suppose that doesn't necessarily mean it'll go out at 3pm but it's a bit pointless to show it at any other time of the day.

Apparently, he'll be "keeping it real". So there's something to look forward to.

That is very strong. Would be a shame to lose Come Fly With Me though, as I think it would give it a massive boost. Maybe Strictly could be moved to Christmas Eve or Boxing Day?

Its been confirmed that Stricty will air on Christmas Day.

I think this year in partiuclar, with the all new line-up, that it deserves the Christmas Day slot too.

I'm told they achieved it by simulcasting ITV output. Maybe they can do this every night?

TOS got 5.2 million on Tuesday night without Will and Kate, seems to have perked up since Matt Baker arrived.

would love to see ITVs reaction if a standard episode of The One Show, out rated Emmerdale.

the gap has been getting wider, so I'd expect their reaction would be to ask BARB to recheck their figures

so no paniced called to Matt Bakers agent, offering him Adrians slot on Daybreak then?

They could also get his dance partner to replace Christine

Dappy's doing the Alternative Alternative Xmas Message which isn't televised. It'll be available on Myspace and Twitter etc so wont need the 3pm C4 slot.

I've thought this for a couple of years - and especially given that with 5 couples doing 2 dances, they could be looking at more than an hour. Still, they seem determined to keep it on the big day, and I can kind of see why. It's their main entertainment offering, and they're reluctant to put anything else opposite Corrie.

I think it could be Christmas Eve or Boxing Day for Come Fly With Me itself. Perhaps a 10pm slot after Rock and Chips or Upstairs Downstairs. It'd still be a decent lead-in, but I suppose not a comedy one (and I doubt it has much audience synergy with UD!). Of course, the slot it gets could depend on how good the BBC think it is. If it stinks, they won't let it anywhere near the big day - but its prominence on the Programme Information would indicate that it doesn't...

I know your post is lighthearted but the third one is also true and happened on Tuesday 16th November. And it was a direct head to head which gives a more accurate picture of each soap's popularity than the hour long Emmerdales starting half hour before Easties do.

As for the BBC I think they should split EE on xmas day and not give a second thought to what ITV are doing.

When Matt Baker was on the one show on 11th Nov it went up to 5 million. - the day after with Chris Evans it dropped to 4.2. The following week without Matt it was middle 4's except for the William and Kate interview. Monday/Tuesday Matt had the figures back up to 5.1 & 5.2 million

Baker seems to push the rating up at least half a million if not up to a million on some days.

You might be right.

An episode of Corrie St was shown on BBC1 last Friday, and 10.6m watched it, just 10 minutes after a mere 6m watched the previous episode on ITV1...

Has the world gone crazy in the last 2 weeks or have the BBC finally realised that ITV make better programmes?

The William and Kate interview was very much a one-off and not typical of TOS (or ITV either). The audience always drops when Evans is presenting.

Why does the BBC stick with Evans then . Seems daft. When they announce the new host of TOS will Evans still keep his pointless Friday slot?

Does anyone here really take that day to mean anything?

Matt Baker will do Monday-Wednesday, Evans Thursday/Friday (don't ask me why as he brings absolutely nothing to the role that an average regional TV presenter couldn't handle.)

is that just a temp arrangement for Baker/Evans or permanent?
