It has all the makings of a flop as it's more suited to daytime and who really wants to watch people losing weight in peaktime. I can see the BBC laughing their heads off at this as, once IAC and TXF finish, ITV has few hits barring the two soaps.

Is Digital Spy going into cripplingly slow mode a good barometer for ratings ?

That would be pot calling the kettle black though, wouldn't it.

Yikes Corrie finished at 8.54 here :/

It will be about 12m tonight Corrie. Thursday is when we'll see astronomical figures. I still think it could go as high as that peak 19m BGT got a couple of years ago.

lol - no chance. It won't pile on 10m extra viewers.

EE piled on 6m viewers so it's not beyond possibility.

Um, not really.

Thanks to all the hype lots of lost viewers like myself have been lured back for the week so I wouldn't be suprised. The crash though was spectacularly bad.

Don't think its worth predicting Thursday's live rating until we have tonight's rating at approximately 10am tomorrow.

...in my opinion.

#corrietramcrash and #coronationstreet the top two trends on Twitter still, nearly an hour later.

Tomorrow's episode may do better than expected due to everyone talking about it! Astonishingly it was being discussed by a surprising number of people I know (and hey, some I know but haven't spoken to in yeaaars!) on Facebook, and trust me I've never seen that happen!

The crash was as good as it could be given it's a soap. Very dramatic, but obviously a little fake.

I hope it gets good ratings because a lot of effort went into all of that.

Glad it's not just me who thought so but didn't want to say anything in the soaps forum where they throw the toys. We have only just stopped laughing in our house. Best bit was the tram driver's facial expressions. It's a pity this week's Harry Hill is a Best Of.

It was hilarious - in a king kong, thunderbirds, Godzilla kind of way.

I don't know if it was just me, but there was not that much talk (well among work, friends, family) who watch Corrie, as well as EE. When it was coming up to EE25, it felt like everyone was talking about it.

I think from tonights reaction, this week will see a rise, which is good for the live episode Thursday.

I agree - but I loved it anyway, and I haven't watched Corrie since Richard Hillman! They've clearly put a lot of effort into it and it deserves to do really well this week.

I hope Coronation Street rates well - I thought it was excellent tonight.

Back to last night, and great ratings yet again for the big two shows. Pure stupidity from ITV1 with their 9pm show. Complete idiocy. Why not show something which is half decent instead of some countdown/clip show?

Why was it idiocy ?

It was a dirt cheap clip show, won it's slot and beat the expensive drama on the other side.

I watched it and, whether it was or wasnt, it looked like a Hornby model coach being tossed like a caber. Very dramatic beforehand with all the quick shots of various characters.

Ratings predictions are difficult here-without the pull of the live episode this would have been the big one which is curiously overshadowed by later in the week. And yet Monday is the normally biggest draw day-Thursday is often the worst.

Someone on here will know the answer to this I'd say. Whatever happened to that new series "Outcasts" that was due to be shown in November IIRC?

13 million would be my estimate. However, if someone like Hilda Ogden was to reappear, then 19 million is possible. Whatever way you look at it a very good performance for the veteran soap in such a competitive market.

I guess because there was a ready made audience for it who may not have assembled in the same numbers most other times. Having said that it didnt really make the most of 15 million.
Garrows Law did ok but it got not much more than half of Downton Abbey's figure. Its fine stuff and the last episode was compelling, but not quite as easy to watch as DA. It will be very interesting to see how Upstairs Downstairs is received -but can the audience really become involved with just three episodes? If it does well hopefully there will be a longer run.

No idea what rating we're looking at tonight. I suspect somewhere between 12m and 15m. But, you never know.

12m absolute tops.

But it was a waste of the slot - the 15m lead in and 10m departed immediately. With the right programme they could have kept the majority of viewers on ITV1.

Agreed. Can't see it being any higher, although hopefully that almighty cliffhanger will mean momentum carries across the week and into the live episode.

To be fair with most shows, especially "fillers", that is the case anyway - Downton Abbey is the exception rather than the rule, and other than concluding I'm a Celeb a day later there wasn't too much that could go in the slot.
