Surprised at people saying 12m tops. Jack's death scored 11.0m so I think it will be higher considering the event and the hype. 13m+ I reckon!

Seems odd that they didn't conclude I'm A Celeb last night though - it strikes me as being such an obvious thing to do, and though it did brilliantly on Saturday it would surely have done even better last night.

I think Corrie is on its way to a corker of a rating. I dont think 14m is out of reach for later this week.

Yeah, I'd agree. Given that number, I'd be pretty surprised if we don't see 13m tomorrow. The real mystery, to me, is whether it'll fade over Tuesday and Wednesday, or grow as it captures the national conversation. If it grows, then I do think Thursday has a sporting chance of beating EE Live.

"Very minor" sums it up. Even with TXF and IAC swarming all over ITV's schedule, it can still only manage neck and neck with BBC1.


Nonsense. The question is whether Corrie will beat EE to second place behind the TXF Final.

With a likely 14-15m having watched tonight, and no escape for the core demographic in their daily papers and constant ITV trails/plugs, that momentum will continue all week. An overnight of 16m+ seems certain for the live episode, and it will surely edge out EE Live quite comfortably in the 2010 chart.

But it won't beat TXF, whose victory this year is assured given BBC1's total capitulation in scheduling anything to remotely give TXF a run for its money this coming weekend.

The sky truly is the limit for TXF this weekend.


Not for much longer. Surely The Royle Family and The Apprentice will both make the final chart with >8.7m, and with the festive ep of R&C dumped in the Wednesday night wastelands, it ain't gonna beat the 8.7m it already has - 6.5m tops IMHO.

Crap weather increases the ratings. Casual viewers would have tuned in tonight and the EE crowd have also joined in as the Corrie lot did for their Live episode. It didnt start until EE had finished tonight deliberately. I think we'll be looking at 14m for the 2nd episode

I really hope it grows. There's so much pressure on Corrie to do well after EE Live, which is why expectations are so high. It was excellent tonight anyway. Hoping to see big ratings in the morning.

Robbie your such a let down. I was so expecting you to come on here and give us you "view" on tonights episode. Not taht you would have watched!

I should say that I really enjoyed tonight's big drama event, much more than I expected. Often when a piece of TV drama like that gets such a build-up, it proves a let-down.

But tonight was no disappointment. Gripping, tense, every twist and turn of the plot proving a real seat of the pants experience. What would be the grizzly conclusion?

And when it came it wasn't quite what was expected.

Superb performances for all concerned too. Proper gritty, earthy Mancunian drama. I hope it gets the ratings and the awards it deserves.

I've predicted 12.5m on the Soaps Ratings Thread for the second Corrie episode tonight. If the Jack Duckworth's death can get 11m a few weeks ago (and last week's normal Monday episode got 10.8m), surely tonight's should be able to rise 15% in its viewership considering all the promos, hype and occasion. There's going to be 26-27m people watching TV during that half hour so Corrie will need a 47% share, which should be possible.

15.1m is what i think for tonights 2nd episode of corrie and 17.2m for LIVE on Thursday

No honestly, everyones dying to know what you thought of it ! You must have watched - it is the biggest TV event of the year !

Tomorrow should dent some of Corrie's momentum but I think it could do well on Wednesday as recent Wednesday episodes have rated much better than Thursday ones. So while I think there will be a dip tomorrow momentum can start growing again on Wednesday leading to that mammoth rating on Thursday. And I really do think we're in for a mammoth figure Friday morning. I can't see it breaking twenty but the average will be closer to 20m than 15m.

Really? That many?! I honestly don't think it's going to be such a big success as people are suggesting.

My predictions for this week's episodes:

Tonight: 12.1m and 12.6m
Tuesday: 11.8m
Wednesday: 11.3m
Thursday (Live): 13.2m
Friday: 12.4m and 12.5m

Funny how it's all the BBC/EastEnders fans saying Coronation Street will get near 20m. I'll say this - if Coronation Street climbs over 15m in the overnights for any episode then I shall grovel to every single one of you. I'll be amazed if it goes above 13m in the overnights for a single episode. Don't know why I get that feeling - I just don't think the soap can build momentum and hype the same way as other shows can.

I predicted that EastEnders LIVE would beat it's xmas day 2007 rating and it did.
I don;t think corrie will get 20million but 17/18 m is quite possible i think.

I watched the last ten minutes.

I did cause some upset at the weekend with my "Corrie Does Casualty" reference. I now realise this was inappropriate, and did the programme a grave disservice.

A disservice to Casualty, that is. They have had some pretty dramatic incidents in that show over the past 24 years, but nothing as remotely comic as that Metrolink tram coming down the tracks, the driver pressing a big red button, and it then careering off a big viaduct onto the street below, whilst remaining wholly intact and free of damage, and then swinging majestically through the air and coming down with a bump into Rita's papershop, again remaining wholly intact.

It was the funniest thing I've seen on telly in ages.

I hope it was supposed to be a hammed-up, third rate disaster-movie/Casualty spoof?

I've just thought - Dancc's going to kill us (me especially as I started it) for discussing our predictions considering it's a blind week. Oops. Plus side - most people have made their predictions now. Maybe edit the posts so they don't include the predictions.

Tuesday: 11.6m
Wednesday: 11.3m
Thursday (Live): 17.2m
Friday: 13.4m and 13.0m

Realistic and achievable predictions I think.

People who are predicting the likes of 16m and 17m are way off the mark - the only point of reference they are using is EastEnder's live episode, but EE is just a different kind of beast altogether, and has the ability to capture that big audience far more than Corrie's ever had.

Still I must stress that those are 2 particular people's takes, everyone has very different ideas about this week...
