Yeah, the BBC used to move
EastEnders away from the clashes, but it didn't do any good, because although it meant people didn't have to choose between the two soaps, it did mean
EastEnders lost other viewers due to the irregular timeslots.
Going back a few years, there was one time when the BBC moved
EastEnders to 8pm on a Thursday, in order to avoid a big storyline in an hour-long
Emmerdale from 7 until 8pm. However, ITV changed their schedule and split
Emmerdale into two half-hours at 7 and 8pm that night. In fact, ITV might even have run it from 7.30 until 8.30pm.
That was the last time the BBC moved
EastEnders, because it was obviously pointless to move it under those circumstances.
