Yes, I have one and have had no problems with it. Don't forget you won't be able to transfer hd to disc as you need bluray which is the next model up.
Very easy to use and I have mine networked to my homenetwork and can view from the laptop. Features are better than the old recorders and the only downside is the advert on the epg, but even that is easy to ingnore.

What's the selling price as I saw a Panasonic Freeview HD twin tuner (can't remember the model) at over £500 in Currys a couple of days ago?
They're not cheap, so probably best to google for the best price, although I bought mine from the local Panasonic shop which was a good deal as I can ring up for advice and get it.
Re the epg, there is only the one available, thanks panasonic but it's great setting a series recording and not worrying about time changes and the program being extended like pillers of the earth. My opinion, I like the machine which doesn't seem to have the bugs which plague pvr's.

Apparently Panasonic only provide the GuidePlus EPG (presumably they receive money from GuidePlus to do so?). It seems VERY shortsighted - and a good reason not to buy Panasonic.

Sorry, I must disagree with you Nigel, if that's the only problem then it shouldn't rule a good, well equiped machine out of the selection process, apart from the one hickcup with the landscape view which has now resolved its self its as good as any other machines epg that I've seen and yes I have seen a fair few.

I have a problem with my XW380, and I wondered if anyone here has seen it, or can reproduce it?
TV is a Panny 37PX70.
Connection is to HDMI1
XW380 Settings:
HDMI Video Mode - On
HDMI Video Format - Automatic
Deep Colour Output - Automatic
HDMI Audio Output - On
HDCP on HDMI Output - On
Contents Type Flag - Automatic
VIERA Link - On
I cannot get any Freeview HD channels, but bought this machine for the twin tuner capability,
The issue is, when I record or watch an SD channel, though the XW380 tuner(s), AND, the programme is simultaneously being broadcast in HD, the TV will not switch to 'Wide' mode, but displays a stretched 4:3 image instead, in 'Auto' aspect mode.
If a programme is not being simultaneously being broadcast in HD, 'Wide' mode is displayed correctly on the TV.
If I connect with RGB Scart, 'Wide' mode is correctly displayed on all channels.
I can select '16:9' mode manually on the TV, and the display is then correct from the XW380, but as the TV is often used for 4:3 videos, I don't want to leave it permanently in 16:9 mode, when 'Auto' mode should work correctly.
I also have a Panasonic EX98V, and this does not produce the problem. My old Humax Freeview box, also did not produce the problem.
I can only deduce that this is being caused by something in the broadcast encoding, not being correctly processed and passed through HDMI by the XW380. I'm struggling to decide whether the machine is faulty, or whether it will work correctly once Freeview HD is enabled in my area. Unfortunately, by then, the warranty will have expired if it does not. Further, I don't want to go to the hassle of exchanging the machine (purchased from Amazon), if another one is going to do exactly the same.
Can anyone advise?

Sorry but I only have an old 4:3 CRT, so am not able to make use of the HDMI features on that box yet.

I have one of these and am very satisfied with it other than the lag when changing functions.
You can easily transfer HD to disc.
First you convert the HD recording using DR File Conversion.
Select recording mode: HG,HX,HE,HL,HM. This can be done in standby or in real time.
Once converted just copy to disc.
I know you can transfer by converting the format but it then becomes a normal recording, to keep the hd side you need to record to bluray not dvd derivitive.

Dave - the XW380 does not have bluray capability.
Is it possible to delete channels from the Channel List entirely and not just from a Favourites list?
