Give me suggestions, it has to fairly cheap and someone that i haven't either heard of or haven't bothered to listening to. It also needs to be in HMV. I need a break from my 1302 songs on itunes.

Try the new Kanye West album.

It's amazing.

I could recommend loads, but without knowing what sort of music you like it'd be pointless.

It's relatively easy to listen to full albums online these days, with the likes of Spotify... and even acts stream full albums on their website or MySpace.

What about Lady Gaga? Or Glee? Or Madonna?

I second Kanye West's new album but if you're feeling adventurous Tame Impala "Innerspeaker".. my personal album of the year

Totally agree with this. Have a listen to the title track if you want a taste of the album, its brilliant.

I'd also highly recommend Robyn's Body Talk compilation. Best pop album of the year. It's out next week I think.

Maybe go for something a bit older.

An early Madonna album? Like Like A Prayer or True Blue

An Etta James or Dusty Springfield or Blondie Greatest Hits

Something a bit more indie? Foals perhaps?

Previous work by an artist you like. So if say you like No Doubt but only know their greatest hits then buy Rock Steady or Tragic Kingdom

Something calming and acoustic. Laura Marling and Cat Power make lovely music for dark night, calming and beautiful

Or literally walk in and buy any random cd that you like the cover of? Might discover a gem (or you might end up with a dud but I'm not repsonsible if that happens)

How about buying a compilation album? This way you get a wide range of choice.

It was the title track and You Know Me Better that got me hooked. As soon as I heard those songs I knew I had to listen to the rest of the album!

I dropped a few album recommendations on someone yesterday, so I'll post them here too. They're all on Spotify if you want to check them out first (although I've posted a link to a song from each album on YouTube, 'cos I'm nice like that), and they're all under a tenner at hmv.com (and the Sleigh Bells album is only five quid!)

Warpaint - The Fool
Holy F**k - Latin
Rose Elinor Dougall - Without Why
Sleigh Bells - Treats
The Hundred in the Hands - (self-titled LP)

Try any or all of these:

Howlin Wolf - His Best Vol.1 (Chess)
The Remains - The Remains
Nuggets - Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era
Mad Mike Monsters - Volumes 1-3 (Norton)

If you want just one, go for Nuggets - it's cheap and it might just blow your mind.
