The Apprentice is an adult tv version of school
The tasks are like homework.
The boardroom where Sugar discusses how good/bad each team has done is like going to the classroom after the teacher has assessed your work and your grade is announced. The final three back in the boardroom is like the teacher keeping three pupils back after the end of the lesson. The candidates' attempts to stay in the show "I shouldn't be fired because blah blah blah..." is like a pupil trying to explain why he/she didn't do the homework or why he/she didn't get a good grade: "my dog eat most of my homework and I didn't have time to rewrite it." The candidate being fired is like a pupil getting expelled from school. The relationship between Sugar and the candidates is like a teacher and his pupils. "Good morning Lord Sugar" is like going to school and saying "good morning, sir" to a teacher. Sugar's comments like "I think I should sack the bloody lot of you" is like a teacher saying "you pupils never behave, never learn anything!"

Nick and Karren are the class snitches, making the candidates look bad by telling Lord Sugar "what really happened..."!

Brilliant analysis. It is so much more like a classroom than a boardroom (not that it's a real boardroom anyway). I hope Sugar doesn't run his companies like this for real. Quote:

Its even more like school in the US version. You can see the groups divide into jocks/cheerleaders and geeks/weirdos almost immediately and the 'pretty' ones do what they can to make the lives of the others hell. The shock on their pretty faces when they realise their looks are not going to save them in the boardroom is the very reason i keep watching lol
