I haven't really thought about this before.

I love the Palazzo pants for routines with lifts because I love the way they flare out during the lifts. But I didn't like the hairy catsuits that Laila and Aliona wore last year. Ann got away with trousers the other week. Culottes would be okay and tight leggings like those worn by Ola, Tina and Natlie. I can imaging trousers being worn for certain swing dances too. It would be okay for a themed dance e.g. bell bottom hipsters for a 60's routine.

I think is depends on the routine, so I wouldn't want a ban.

It's not. Footygirl has often posted that she doesn't like the female contestants to wear trousers.

Thankyou katie for pointing out what I was asking people- and that it wasn't a bashing thread

I found out early as well because the Daily Fail covered it.

To make matters worse, I'm a week behind and had managed to avoid finding out who went home last week.

Hey this is nothing to do with Ann - I just think women doing ballroom and latin are dressing wrongly if they are wearing trousers

I find it disgusting in this day and age that women are allowed to wear trousers. Hot pants or nothing plz.

A few selections for your reading pleasure (ranging back over a few years, and including at least one specific anti-trouser thread):

I will probably get slated for being stuck in the past - the woman needs to wear a dress or a skirt. And given that Len seems to associate himself with tradition on the show I would be interested to hear his comments

All I know is if that was unveiled as my outfit I would take a look at it and say No - a dress please”

Slinky, I agree wholeheartedly on the issue on skirts. I am a skirts and dresses person myself. I will not under any circumstances wear trousers”

I'm sorry to keep banging on about it. But even though the jive is a fun lively dance there should be the hard and fast rule that when performing ballroom dancing in public you don't wear trousers.

Kym has gone all Princess Leia in that bikini top

I quite like this routine. No lightsabre comments please ”

Really- it's not a conspiracy. It's a genuine dislike of trousers.

Plus (at the risk of repeating myself), Patsy's look split between the legs too.

And it's 'audacity'.

The first I saw them was in Camilla and Tom's AS and I thought it fitting for the era as with Erin in Peter's Quickstep.
I know Flavia has worn them a couple of times but I wasn't too taken with them and I thought Tina's were inappropriate.
I liked Patsy's VW week and was Felicity wearing them last week?
I loved her outfit whether it was or not.

It will look awful for an Argentine Tango- surely the template of the perfect AT outfit is Karen's dress which she wore when she was dancing with Ramps

I went for about five years without wearing jeans: couldn't stand how uncomfortable they were. Mind, three of those years were spent in hot countries.

I'd love to wear more skirts & dresses but due to injury, I'm stuck in trainers and they look terrible with a skirt a la Patsy.

Patsy had a dress on for VW- which is how it should be

I work as a commentator - and I do commentary in a skirt(i do wear boots with a long skirt in the winter) - I got a few funny looks - but I think people accept it now - as it is part of my identity

I recall Camilla wearing culottes - I think it was the year she won with Tom and didn't Natalie wear them last year?

Boots with a skirt, especially knee-length, look great.

There's a Hobbs discount sale on tomorrow near me (SW London), I went to one last week and there were some gorgeous knee-length flat-ish boots but not in my size. £200 to £50!
*crossing fingers for tomorrow*

Not a bashing thread quite obviously a thinly veiled bashing thread, another example of how this place is out of touch with the real world.
