humax boot light on then screen goes blank
I have read various posts about a boot problem, but not sure if mine is the same...
we cannot switch off the boot light on the box with the stand-by buttons on the front of the humax, nor with the remote. When we switch the box on, the boot light comes on, the tv displays the humax logo, then goes blank. there is no sign of burning on the underside of the box. the fault occurred quite suddenly after an evening's viewing. we switched off the tv with its remote but instead os switching off the box separately, we switched off the mains. later the same evening we returned to watch something else, and the boot light stayed on, with no picture (apart from the logo briefly) and no control on the remote. tried switching on and off at the back of the box, replacing the remote batteries, all to no avail. we live in portugal, but bought the box via amazon uk less than a year ago. any suggestions, please? Thanks! |

Welcome to the forum!
I'm not sure I fully understand your problem, but lets have a try. Are you using HDMI connection to your TV? If so turn on the HDR but leave the TV off. After about 40 seconds what is visible on the display of the HDR? If there is the identity of a TV or radio channel then turn on the TV. If then the TV shows what you want it could be handshake problem between your TV and the Humax. With my Toshiba for example I must wait until the BOOT has finished before I turn on the Toshiba. If I do not do that then I get a black screen & no sound. I then have to change the TV to HDMI 2 and then back to HDMI 1 and then the TV functions normally. If the display of your Humax stays stuck showing BOOT for a long time then you may have a deeper problem. Other people in the forum have reported re-seating cables inside the HDR have resolved such problems, but if there is a seal on the back of yours then you will probably loose your remaining warranty if you do that. |

Try another hard drive, switching off the power could have damaged the boot sector.
There isn't one. The OS is in NVram. The hdr will boot without a hdd in it, or a brand new blank one. |

Might be a daft suggestion, but following a power outage the box needs two boots if the power is cut off with the box in full sby. The first resets the clock and then shuts down, the second boots to full operation.
