Itunes Question

Just a quicky, My wife has an ipod touch and have bought a number of apps for it. My wife has hinted that she might be getting me an ipad for christmas cos she fed up with me using her touch all the time (I have an ipod 5g with over 30gb of music on it, so a touch is no good to me.....)

This has set my mind wandering, can I download the apps I have bought for the touch to the ipad, or will I have to pay for them again?

Then again, I might just end up with some socks and a bag of nuts on Christmas day, but hope keeps me going.........

No, you shouldn't need to download them again - I have several paid for Touch apps on both my iPod and the iPad. I copied the apps using shared libraries between out two Macs, not sure how you'd go about it on a single Windows computer, but at a guess, I'd locate the app files in explorer, then drag them onto iTunes, where they will then be available for syncing to the iPad. Good luck!

Cheers, sounds like it'll work!

Just to confirm, I have a windows 7 pc with one library, which I sync an ipod touch, 5th gen ipod and 1st gen nano with, so if I add an ipad, I can carry on syncing, and in theory put the apps that are on the touch on the ipad too?

As long as the apps are compatible with the iPad then no problem (older apps may not work). The latest version of iTunes shows the apps grouped by the devices they work on so you will easily be able to see which ones.

Current model iTouch's have 8, 32, or 64GB of memory, so the 30+GB of music on your current iPod could well fit onto either the 32 (if you are prepared to remove some of the stuff you don't need) or 64GB iTouch. The 8GB iTouch is really designed for apps only, and even then can be a bit lacking in storage, so it should come down to either the 32 or 64 version.

True, but £300+ is too much for an mp3 player, plus I mainly use my ipod on the move, and like to be able to control it without looking at it, i.e. when its in my pocket etc. I tend to flick through tracks alot, not easy to do with a touch on a crowded train!
