Dermot O'Leary said that the one contestant who epitomises XF was Leona Lewis, but he was way off, because the one who really does typify XF was Mr. Quigg.
X Factor is essentially Andy Warhol's prophecy come true. That everyone will be famous for 15 minutes. It doesn't matter if they have any talent, they will be famous regardless.

Eoghan just disappeared after X-Factor. I seen him on tv and he has put on a lot of weight and has really changed from a few years ago. Don't think he does much entertainment these days.

I agree. Eoghan, in every way possible epitomises the conveyer belt mentality the show has. Average voice, young so will play along with any gimmick they give him and more importantly his appeal to the teenage girl vote. He ticked all their boxes. The second rate pop they had him release was as obvious as him being dropped after the exposure had died down after the show. His lack of presence and weak voice ensured he would struggle relying soley on his music after the show. I wish they would secure some decent writers for the contestants post X Factor. With every year its becoming more and more embarrassing that they are still reliant on a 4 year old winner to illustrate the shows power in creating stars!!

Of course they would like to think Leona Lewis epitomises the show, but she doesnt. She's the exception, not the rule.

Don't forget there are a number of people getting work outside of the medias eye, not as pop stars but behind the scenes or in the theatre. It many cases it's been a valuable career step.

Very true, and you can add the Scottish.

Yes, this (I think TXF actually has a better record of producing West End stars than popstars). If I were an ex-contestant, and I had a choice between a West End deal and a Syco record contract, I know which one I'd go for.

That's the problem with the show - the contestants are just throwaway toys.

Who will remember Cher or Aiden in a year's time - if you asked 90% of the country I bet apart from Stacey, Joe, Jedward and Olly they couldn't remember the other 8 finalists from last year? What happened to Danyl - he was going to be a world class superstar according to Cowell 12 months ago.

Diana Vickers seems to be doing alright, and didn't she finish behind Eggnog?

It takes time, you need a year in the studio.

Debut album will be released early 2011.

The contestants who genuinely have a passion for music, i.e can write music or perhaps even play some instruments, and absolutely know their own musical direction are those who will most likely have a career in the music world. Acts like Eoghan, Leon, Same Difference who did well on the show but essentially had no creativity and were pup-petted by SC..have faded into the background. This is probably why x factor winners have not done so well, because the show is basically judged on how well a contestant can sing another persons song.

As Cheryl Tweedy would say, "you've nailed it!"

This is the definitive answer IMHO.
