That was pretty shocking, very shaky vocal on the initial verse then the backing vocals and miming kicked in for the rest of the song. I'm suprised no-one mentioned it.

There seemed to be a helluva lot of vocals once we hit the chorus.

Sounded too strong to me whilst they were moving about...I reckon it was a backing track of themselves that they then sing to, the harmony was far too strong....come on!

I think the OP and Digital Spy forum could be facing a lawsuit.

Well that proves they sing live. Not just need for a court to decide on the amount of damages to award for the libel.

Its been made clear that they sing live.

What they DON'T say is how high their microphones are turned up compared with how loud the backing track is.

At the end of one of Mary's performances, she was holding a note then moved the microphone away from her mouth and the sound was the same. That looked suspicious to me!

1D have always mimed. Most obviously in "Kids in America". The technique used is to have either the blonde one or the one that needs a haircut sing a couple of phrases at the start with the camera in close up to "Prove they sing live" then go to the wide angle shots of the stage or close in on the ones that are better at lip sync if necessary. They frequently make mistakes when miming, so it's quite obvious.

Last night, in the first song the vocals for the main part were very strong, and in tune. Loads of wide angle shots. On the second song, the vocals were fairly weedy, warbled a lot and weak. It's clear that the tall blonde one and the one in need of shearing can sing passably, but none of the others can. We didn't see their first appearances, or their boot camp performances.

When you can see lips moving and differnt words coming out of them, then that is obvious miming. Bearing in mind the show do not hide the fact that all the group performances are mimed, why can't it be said that contestants DO mime? Pointing out what is clearly obvious to anyone that is watching (including the red-tops) isn't libellous and the forum or it's contributors are not going to get sued. All the judge would have to do is watch the performances as broadcast closely, and there is no way that they would find for Scowell, therefore Scowell would not chance going that direction.

Nice enough bunch of lads, and I wish them well, but THEY MIME - simples.

The vocal support One Dimension and Cher had was blindingly obvious. More so than previous weeks, as if that wasn't obvious enough.

Absolutely ridiculous.

I like the term "Vocal support" for what is effectively miming. I expect Syco to be using it this time next week!

I can't comment on that really. After the opening notes of Creep I got up and served dinner. After the opening notes of Addicted to Love I went for a smoke.

They aren't going to give him any. They want him out, and probably think that showing he can't sing will make a difference to votes. As if singing was an issue in this series! They turn his mike up enough so that we can hear him sing, and the backing track isn't anywhere near as loud as the other mime-artists. Him, Matt, Mary and rebecca are the only ones left that actually can sing. Katie, Cher and 1D can't.

Darn, that was unfortunate, you could have missed some great performances! Seems you were lucky this time!
