Exactly all this nonsense about tension between Harry and Liam is just that; nonsense. You only have to watch the backstage videos to see Harry really looks up to Liam and respects him and Liam is very fond and protective of Harry. There is no rivalry between them.

But as said up thread people see what people want to see with this group and despite seeing Liam standing there hugging Harry looking proud of him everyone reads it as 'really he hates his guts'.

yeah she said that its was either louis or liam that came out from backstage in one of the add breaks wispered something to simon and then he went backstage with him and came out 2 minutes later just in time for the show to come back on

exactly and when liam was upset it was harry that hugged him and then the other boys realised he was upset and crowded round a hugging harry and liam

I'm sure Liam wonders what it would be like to be a solo act on the show, but at the same time he seems smart enough to realize- in the end, being the sort of lead vocal for such a hysteria band is ideal. He adds vocal credibility & the ground overall gives him the excitment youth feel he may lack sometimes. (I think the group realizes this as well). And after a bit of a bump he hit tonight, I'm sure he appreciates have the group to fall back on vs solo.

I watched his audition back the other day, and he seems to have lost that enthusiasm he had back then in any of his One Direction performances. Back at Boot Camp/Judges Houses I had my doubts of how happy he was of being put in a group, especially because to start with he's done worse than his previous stint on the show (being put through as a soloist two years ago).

So, I think to make him happy, they let him lead the band for the first for weeks, but once Harry got his confidence back, Simon was soon quick to take that role away from Liam - doesn't look like he took it too well either.

As for the end of last night's first routine, he looked more agitated than anything else, and looked really lost when the rest of them were walking off stage.

I remember that in a newspaper once, there was an article about Harry finding a box in the studio, and to cheer up his band members he hid in the box and jumped out at them when they began searching for him. The pictures taken show Liam probably laughing the hardest of the lot, and Liam and Zayn also seem to get on close.

If anything, I think it was Louis who looked a bit deflating-not that I blame him. Imagine you audition on this show and get through to the live finals, and yet you have yet to sing a solo line, like everyone else in your group has.


As someone said that the solo parts were changed after Summer Of '69 making Harry lead, I'm assuming that Liam was disappointed with his vocal and got nervous and just burst into tears, like a less dramatic version of Cher last week. He seems like a perfectionist and I know from experience that perfectionists will beat themselves up over the littlest of things.

Just rewatched after reading this thread and didn't look peed off to me but more a look of disappointment. Perhaps he wasn't on form last night . Matt did say that almost all of the contestants had been hit with illness. Perhaps Liam was one of them. Who knows but I think their 2nd song was great. They can't win on here. FM's moan they can't sing so they strip it back and just having them singing and now they say there was no harmonies!!!

IMO they are better singers than Cher who has a very weak voice and how come no one mentions her backing track?

Exactly. He's not miffed at being in the band, I'm sure he's just greatful that he was in the position where he knew that when he was having a bad night he could rely on his friend to cover for him. I'm sure he feels indebted to Harry not jelous of him.
