I feel terrible now for saying I hated Nights in White Satin as he clearly loves it. I also said the X Factor was for me a process of constant disappointment but perhaps I should have said constant mortification. It makes a fool out of me in so many ways.

But I have to say almost my favourite thing of the night was looking back through the old thread and seeing no less than three people cry 'the wife' when Matt appeared on stage. It sounds exactly like the cavalry appearing over the hill.

And my bad: it wasn't Dan Wootton who tweeted about Matt having a breakdown; it was the actual NOTWNews twitter account. Dan said that Dannii is "very harsh" in his interview with her tomorrow. But like Mattadore, I'll be buying the paper tomorrow too as I kinda rate Dannii and will be interested to hear what she has to say.

I have worried about the affect on Matt this week. His eyes were heavy. I know this is just recovering from a throat virus, but he looked uncomfortable after the 2nd song and a bit down.

He should not be. He needs to know that people are applauding him massively after tonight and he may just have gained more voters.

Alex caller said Danni gives constructive criticism. However, worried that this could have a negative affect on people voting for Matt.

I can't view either performance on X Factor site - only on youtube. First song has no sound for me and second song is stuck. Haven't checked others but it's annoying.

Obviously I can replay them on Sky+ but I want to add to the view numbers.

I hope the only reason that Matt felt uncomfortable after his second performance was because his throat was hurting after all the great effort he put into the song. He grabbed at his throat after he finished singing You could tell that he was in pain and I hope he hasn't done his throat any more harm singing tonight.

As Simon said, you could see how much it meant to him and couldn't have done any better than he did

I think he just wasn't well - his throat clearly hurt after both songs but you'd never have known it from the vocal - amazing

He actually looked worse after his first performance...very pale & clammy looking..wiping his face after walking off post Dermot chat, he needs loads TLC & rest now the poor fella..

..I thought at the end of NIWS he does a little tap on his guitar...like he was having a mini-contemplation of how the song went and looked a bit down...I hope he thought it went well...and then he held his poorly throat.

Having watch NIWS about 4 squillion times now I can say that it really is up there with FT. In a different note, hasn't Matt got nice teeth?!

I actually loved both performances tonight

The first one was "Come Together lite" I loved last week but I know it was a bit out there for some of the audience so this one worked better and was light and flirtatious

The second one was his best of the season for me - the one closest to the Matt we all love from 7S and Darwyn. Absolutely loved it and watching it back it gets better

we need to vote and not assume he is safe the Wagner fans are voting in force to keep him in and if they do we need to be sure its not at Matt's expense
