Your argument would make sense if the 6 previous X Factor winners still had top music careers, but they don't.

People voted for Steve, Leon, Joe and Shane in their millions but that support didn't translate into continued single and album sales.

So people not buying your album is par for the course in X Factor, but at least Wagner will be able to treasure the memory of winning forever.

Fun is quite a good thing to have actually, it makes life more enjoyable.

And if you'd read what Wagner had said this week, about embracing the madness and thanking people for voting for him you'd realise he is having a lot of fun as well. If that wasn't obvious enough already. He is in on the joke, and out-playing the show at it's own game.

He's a grown man, and more than capable of deciding what is or isn't a good thing for him. There is no need to patronise him by feeling sorry for him, when he has stated there is no need to. All he wanted to achieve from this is to "be in showbusiness", and he's doing a bloody good job of that so far by handling all the madness with class and being the most talked about person in the country.

Who you should feel sorry for is all the other contestants who will just be chewed up and spat out, as has already happened and will happen over and over again. And the ones who break down in tears at every opportunity believing this is the single most important moment of their lives and will change everything for the better.

Not really. They will give contracts out no matter who wins. They are probably having their lawyers drawing them up as we speak. One set if they win, another if they don't.

TBH, I think the only vote worth its salt this year is the one for Wagner. The rest are meaningless.

Going on the X factor ruins real talent of ever being very sucessful anyway, When pop idol/xfactor started Im sure it was all about the longevity and those that have been around for ever (madonna etc)
these shows have failed to produce anythign like that, so being part of the show limits you before you start, if you are really that good you would have success without it.

I don't believe Simon for a second if he's said it wouldn't bother him if Wagner wins.

Of course he'll make money out of any winner - but he's going to make a damn site more out of Wand Erection - merchandise, tours, appearances, album sales etc simply because the teen market will spend on that sort of stuff.

Although at the age of 30, I would buy a Wagner pencil case and sharpener , I'm sure there are many, many more 7 to 15-year-olds who would want Zain's ugly little mug on their...well... mug, t-shirt, wall, CD player, rucksack, schoolbooks and pencil tins.

Oh, for God's sake. Joe got 6 million votes in the final last year, and sold a grand total of 40,000 copies of his album in the first week. Assuming that each voter voted an average of twice, and that not one person bought his album and didn't vote for him, that translates to one in seventy-five of his voters buying his album when it was released.

Did you complain about people voting for him last year, and tell them that it was cruel to do it to him if they weren't planning to buy his album as well? Bet you didn't.

Joe winning hasn't stopped Ollie.

One way it WILL make a very real and damaging hit to Simon, is the way that the top 3 are automatically signed to exclusivity contracts for 3 months with SYCO, wether he wants them or not. This means he stands the chance of losing one of his favourites if Wagner beats them into the top three, as they will have the opportunity to sign to another label. This should be good news for Rebecca/Cher fans.

People shouldnt get me wrong. I like Wagner. I just don't think he should be the focus of a "campaign to get a joke winner" because that turns him into a joke.

He isnt a joke, but he IS fun.

I even hope he makes the semi finals. Then I'd like to see him go home. All the wagnerites would only have one week without the Wagner then AND he would be there on the night.

I wouldn't say your argument is coherent when you criticise people for doing just what you do, and make points that have no logic behind them.

However I wouldn't say you only have one brain cell...because the majority of Wagnerians don't stoop down into the gutter for their arguments.

What you don't understand, and as everyone has pointed out, is that all the Wagner arguments about supporting the act after the final could apply to most winners. Yet people like you never add the caveat...'are you going to buy Matt's records?' for example.
