More to the point: why do people subscribe to it?

Saying you are worth double is different to saying you want double.

In terms of constructive and consistent feedback she is twice as good as the other judges and in that respect she is worth double what the other judges are worth. There may be quotes from before that quote above which put it into context like so.

In fact I don't really read anything there that suggests she is demanding any payrise.

Yeah that's true but it's still uncool to say you're worth more than the other judges, it's quite arrogant actually. I don't think that Dannii would ever have said something like this two years ago.

I want double...I'm worth double...Is there actually a real difference?

To be honest, i used to really like her but think that she's coming across as quite a bit full of herself this year. It seems she likes to play the ' i'm with the general critique of the public' card too much .
We should remember that all the judges are being way overpaid by Simon and none of them would be there if he didn't approve of what they are saying.
Dannii, like the others, has a role to play and i just find her role a tad too irritating this year.

Not necessarily.

She turned down a £12m magazine deal after Ethan was born, so that tells me money doesn't mean an awful lot to her. So thinking she's worth more doesn't necessarily mean she wants more.

yeah but she thinks she should be on double no matter whether she wants it or not. Which is why i asked if there was a difference.

I think we're going round in circles here.

That's not what she said though.

"I’m worth double what the other judges are paid"

That to me would suggest she thinks she should be earning double than the others?!

Again, not necessarily. You're putting words in her mouth based on an out of context quote.

I very much doubt she would say this to the national press!! Come on, the interviewer could have asked if she thinks she's better than the other judges and probs said yes! Also I dnt know what context shev she said it in (if she did) she cud have been laughing whilst saying it!!!!

This is written by Dan "twisted" wooton if u saw Peter andres show, Dan interviewed him and the day after he twisted the whole interview making Peter looking bad!!!! I wouldn't trust him one bit!

The point she was actually making was that in her opinion she works twice as hard at mentoring her acts.

And I think she's probably right.

That is what I am saying, if that quote is accurate there is almost certainly more that was said leading up to it which puts it in a proper context but the article didn't include it.

But surely if that's the case Dannii would know it! Then why would she give him the interview????
Always liked her but this year am finding her a little too full of herself.

According to who?

I fail to believe there are any celebrities in the UK, aside from perhaps the royal family (and even then I'd be skeptical) that would be offered £12 million for photos, baby photos at that.

That figure is stupidly huge even for the silly PR games that fly around the press like Cheryl's £6 million US record deal.

That's twice as much as ITV reportedly pay Simon!

Dannii meant it "Tongue in cheek" and with a smile and a wink, to be taken as a joke by those with a sense of humour... Dan Wooton is a spineless sleazeball, who'll twist the context of a simple conversation into a headline grabbing lie.

So..if she wants double what Cheryl's getting, does that mean.......no, I don't think Louis would be interested.

Then the implication is yours and yours alone.

Nobody can imply anything on your behalf.

It could be argued that she inferred she deserves to be paid double, but I don't think that's the case. There's some very clever use of quotes being used in the same paragraphs as the writer's own words in this article.
