It spoiled it for me the pretend strumming, then it made me wonder is he miming?

Nights in White Satin is one of my all time favourite songs - I think I'm in the minority here for not thinking much of Matt's version of it.

*goes to find Moody Blues CD to hear the class original*

Mary & Katie - by far the worse along with 1D and Cher!”

The inconsistency has been down to the jack-of-all-trades song choices. He's always good when he just sings but he's been compromised and had his identity threatened by Danni who, let's face it, low on talent, would probably not herself have made the semi-finals in a show like this. That is the danger. We have Danni 'advising' Matt; Cheryl 'advising' Rebecca! It is insane really.

He was not miming as he has a throat infection and that is why he was wincing at the high notes, this song would be difficult to mime to and he was definately singing and was pitch perfect

I thinh you mean note perfect. He doesn't have perfect pitch (coincidentally, Justin Hayward has). Very few people have perfect pitch, it's extremely rare. Two other people who have it are Ben Thappia of G4 and Bill Bailey.

Anyway, Matt was not note perfect. That's what pointed to him defintely not miming.

Can' believe so many people thought it was "Knights" in white satin lol, lovely idea though.

Matt was awesome singing this.

I didnt say he was miming, what I was trying to say was that I thought straight away that the guitar playing loked all wrong on the strumming hand, looked badly out of synch but I play a bit of bass so thought maybe I am wrong, then thought no he cant be playing cos if he was playing to that pattern and it was amplified it would be out. so then decideing that I thought the guitar was naff began wondering about the vocal cos I thought it was ok and they had mentioned his illness. There is a lot of speculation about possible dirty tricks and i was off on a possible conspiracy theory. I have listened to it again and dont think its a mime cos his voice catches a couple of times but have to say he hits the long notes nicely at the end.

I think that his problems are that DM has given him some very bad songs to do. If she was more in tune with what he should be doing he would be flying here. Two really bad choices were I Love R n R last night, he sang it ok but it was a dog of a song. Its not a song that is going to enhance your chances or show what you might be able to achieve, its a dodgy song and no way considered a classic by proper rock fans so you know nowt DM.Plus Bleeding Love was truly awful, I can only think she believed he would be untouchable if he could have pulled it off, but he didnt and you have to think that had to be apparent as soon as he started trying it in rehearsals.

On the X Factor website for downloads they have it as 'Knights'

Agree that he was awesome - the way he holds the notes is pretty spellbinding. You know somebody has done well when Cheryl stands up, she's not known for supporting other people's acts is she?
