Is the X Factor audience made up of complete morons, Daily Mail readers a mixture of the two or are they just egged on by the ITV studio staff to boo and cheer like utter......well morons?

I often wonder this. Do they just give tickets to anyone nowadays?

They sounded a bit more inebriated than normal tonight (if that's possible).

Maybe the audience get a set of flashing images of torture & rainbows & war & new born babies/subliminal messages before the show then Paul McKenna pops on at the end to make them all forget.

Bit off topic.. but did anyone else notice that one of the applauses (I think it might have been after Cher's 2nd song) died down very quickly? It almost seemed as if the audience had been told to shut up due to time constraints... makes me wonder why they can't do that more often. Although, like in my household, it could just be down to low levels of Cher appreciation.

I was going to say this. NOBODY clapped for Cher! It was like 3 people, including Simon and Cheryl, were clapping. The audience was so dead after her last performance. Cheryl kept looking back at the audience and encouraging people to clap for her but the audience was not responding at ALL! I kinda felt bad for Cher because you could see it in her face that she was sad people were not clapping.

People went bonkers for Katie chanting her name. I'm thinking that Cher is in trouble. Who ever leaves before between Katie and Cher will get the others votes since they seem to split votes too much.

Yes I remember Cheryl encouraging them to applaud her. Glad I'm not the only person that spotted this.

No they're more like zombies. Daily Mail reading zombies.

They have to stand in line and be munched on the way in. Tickets for brains and blood. As they say, fair exchange is no robbery.

I think you have your demographics for the Sun and the Daily Mail confused. Daily Mail readers stereotypically go to see Michael Buble and Chris De Burgh concerts and sit through them politely, not even rustling a sweetie paper.

Like with most live shows of any form, they'll have "plants" to get the audience going.

Cheryl is always more animated when Cher is performing, her other singers must feel left out.

The audience are choreographed on how to behave before the show goes on air.

Tickets are free from applause store, but a lot of the show will not be 100 live especially the crowd shots.

I will say I have watched the live wide shots from theback of the audience and very few people clap or stand up.

It's always only the first 2 or 3 rows, and they will be people associated or working on the show!
