i really liked rebecca to start with, but as weeks go on, i find myslef forgetting about her i thought she would be the first person to blow everyone away but it hasnt happened yet and i am now doubting that it ever will she just seems to be getting worse every week

what annoys me is that she has potential to be amazing, but she is relying way to much on the sound of her voice, therefor she is not pushing her self, some of the songs she has sung could have been show stoppers but they always fall flat. i think that she could belt out some right good notes but she doesnt so the song starts small and ends small.

i think she will make the final but i dont think that she is a contender to win anymore

She could be in trouble this week IMO, there are three in the bottom is there not?

She really should be heading for the bottom 3 tomorrow night based on the way she performed, but the British public could have her in the top 2 for all I know.

When she comes on I usually end up talking to the people I watch the show with and not really paying attention to her performance. She was never a contender to win in my books... she'd be lucky to get 3rd.

What you saw tonight or all the previous weeks for that matter is the best Rebecca can do. That is her peak. She is solid, not gonna take her talent away, but that is it. Either she is your cup of tea or she isn't. She is not going to give a big production performance or a wow crazy show. She is really talented but is very niche and monotonous performer in a way that she can only do things one way.

Btw I still think she might win because people LOVE her, be it personality or singing, you be the judge.

She has a great voice, I would certainly want to hear her.

Rebecca's problem is that she's not interesting to watch, which is a shame, she's a beautiful woman.

I can't see her winning.

I'm surprised she's not the favourite to be honest.

Doesn't seem to be any evidence she has improved either. If anything, she was slightly stronger around week 3 or 4 (not by much though).

I like Rebecca but sometimes lose interest (I don't know why).

I think she is the 'typical' winner though, safe and steady performances, maybe something really show stopping in the final could seal the deal.

I thought her second performance was the second best after Matt's. I do think she may be the shock tomorrow. Matt and One Direction are safe, and Cher will get the votes after being in the bottom last week, plus going last.

Relying too much on the sound of her voice? Isn't that the flipping point of the show? Singing? Voice? Use of!
Did you not get the memo? Jeez!!

I stand to win a very nice amount of money if she wins, but I have to be honest and say I think she is probably going to finish 3rd at best I do wonder if her lack of versatility in terms of songs and song choices is related to Cheryl having to spread herself quite thin with the other 2 needy girls.

Rebecca will come 1st or 2nd to Matt & ID will come 3rd in my opinion. At least with Matt and Rebecca we actually have a contest.

Er, no, it's not just about voice. For want of stating the obvious, the XF is more than just the voice.

And I agree with the OP, Rebecca unfortunately lacks something when it comes to performance. I liked her from the beginning but I find it so frustrating that her performances are so STATIC.

I don't need her to be prancing around the stage or in some major choreographed set, but if you think about any major singer they do at least move, even if it's just to walk along the length of the stage. It's part of their connection with the audience. She was being compared to Aretha Franklin tonight - think about how AF performs and the difference in her rapport with her audience. Okay, Rebecca doesn't have AF's experience but even so there is a yardstick which she just isn't reaching. On some level Rebecca just doesn't connect with the audience, as far as I'm concerned.

I say this even as a Rebecca fan.

Nope it's called the X Factor, they are looking for a great voice, personality, stage presence and performance. Personally I don't think any of them has that extra something

edit: oops jayceegee got in first and explined it better

imo I think that Rebecca has been put on the back burner by Cheryl while she concentrates all her efforts on Cher and Katie.
I love her voice but I don't think she has been given the best songs to sing nor the correct styling

If you lack talent in the vocal dept then you can try to make up for it by putting on a show. This was the lesson they all learned from some of the princesses of pop over the past 30odd years. Lets face it, 2 of the best selling female artists have not always had the most outstanding vocal abilities, but the real singers didnt have to have a cast of thousands to sell out stadiums.

I think shes the best singer in it easily but probably too boring to watch that she won't win the wee boy band mob will win by girls phoning at the final.

On the plus side. Rebecca is stunning to look at. She has the likeability factor. She has a 'different' sound to her vocal. She is a competent singer.

On the negative side. She has not developed from week one. Doesn't even look like she wants this at times. Rarely moves, apart from eyes to the left then eyes to the right then back down to the floor. Standing very still on development and physically.

That special thing that will make her a winner is absent from her, but if she does win it will be because of the positive outlined above and that she is the most palatable.

Personally I have always liked Rebecca, but she needs to show some fight now. I think she would make a good album and I would probably buy it.

I remember Leona being criticised for not moving about during her performances on the XF, and if you watch her live now she is still pretty static but it hasn't done her career any harm has it. Shirley Bassey is another that springs to mind, hardly known for her dancing is she?
If you have a voice like any of them you don't need to rely on cheap gimmicks. Your talent is enough.
But that's just my opinion.
