Think she gets a hard time on this forum, but after last week her crying made me think she uses this arrogant attitude to over shadow what she really is a 17 year old who just wants others to like her and to be liked.

I think that Cher destroys everything she works hard for during the week in those 3 seconds she is given to talk. She commanded that stage tonight like no other contestant imo. Really showed a lot of hard work in both performances and a lot of focus. But then when Dermot asks her questions she ruins everything she worked so hard for trying to show a hard exterior and too much attitude. People want to cheer for humble people. Cher should know better... Thinking she is in big trouble after tonight.

She is never going to appeal to everyone, but if you do like her please consider giving her a vote as she will need it more than ever this week.

The thing about it is, She is humble. She hasn't said anything arrogant like some other contestants.

All the people saying she is arrogant are basing it on her demeanour. I really think she is misunderstood by a lot of people. If you watch her video diaries you can see she really isn't cocky at all.

Her crying last week coincided almost exactly with the points in the song when she cried as she first performed it.

She stops crying and there's no tears?

It didn't fool me.

Nor does Wagner when he plays the nice guy routine when the camera rolls.

Nor does Wagner when he plays the nice guy retinue on TV.
What's that got to do with the subject of your OP?

But it did nicely cover up her inability to actually hit the notes, so you have to give her some credit.

Just pointing out that Wagner doesn't fool me with his nice guy routine act which you said regarding Cher's tears.

OK. But you started a thread to talk about Cher crying.

Now you want to discuss Wagner?

That's all right, just make sure your next thread lets us know that there really is no specific subject matter.

Katie's hair is baaaaad, isn't it?

Nor me, When i heard the recorded phone conversations where he bitched about the show it became abundantly clear that his "on my deathbed i will remember this show" type crap is unbelievably fake.

It's so double glazing, concrete paving

That whole recording was edited to the sky and back, but there's nothing said there that we don't all say - other than the fab quote above

I thought Matt's shoes didn't match his outfit when he sang NIWS. What do you reckon?

I was sticking up for Cher when you said the crying didn't fool you well Wagner's act in front of the cameras doesn't fool me, a fair comment I think.

I liked her the first time i seen her but since she's quite annoying, she goes about the stage like eminem and theres nothing worse than an english voice rapping, i dont dislike her though.

No, you weren't sticking up for Cher, you were diverting the subject.

She does try her best they all do in fairness. I loved her first audition and since that it has been slowly going downhill each week for me. She comes across very arrogant/snotty- it's hard to explain! "Like a spoiled child" - maybe? She maybe not but this is the excat thing that I dislike. Perhaps she needs to show a softer side and I certainly think she would gain more votes. On the other hand I look forward to her performances each week.

It's like this I wasn't Katies No.1 fan but I have warmed to her over the past couple of weeks. I would put Katie ahead of Cher at the moment. You may say it should be about singing - it needs to be the whole package.

Shes a young girl with a lot to learn.

Oh, I seeeeeeeeeee...

Somewhere in this thread is an argument so strong and convincing that I can't deny Cher is anything less than a poor, misunderstood, emotional, yet talented artist.

So clever is this argument that makes me realise this, that I can't actually see it yet.

Maybe sometime over Sunday lunch I'll stab my eyes out with a fork when the Eureka! moment hits and I understand that I've got it wrong, so wrong.

I very much look forward to it.

I didn't like Mary's shoes in her second song. They looked like cheap plimsolls and didn't go with her outfit at all.

Yes, I agree with you and I also like Cher too! I think that she does seem arrogant at times, but a lot of it is to cover up her insecurities and she is, at the end of the day, very young!

I think that she is a fantastic performer and she will eventually learn not to be or look so arrogant as she gets that bit older! I wish people would give her a chance because she is a very talented young lady!

You have every right to like Cher. As long a you've met her.

If you mean you like her performances, though, that just means you like god awful crap 'rapping' performed by a girl from Malvern who's about as street as my Bentley.

Which I don't even have.

What a stupid comment to make.

Anyone is entitled to like or dislike how any of the contestants perform and conduct themselves during the show.

For me, I love Cher and she continues to have my support.

Well, good for you,

I love my wife, my children, my parents. people I actually know. I find it better not to love people I've only been exposed to a few hours of heavily edited tv footage of, because I'm not altogether sure love can be lasting in that circumstance. but hey, diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.

Er, you do realise that when viewers say they 'love' a contestant, they're not using the word in the same sense that you love your kids, right? Please tell me that very obvious point hasn't sailed above your head?!

Maybe it did. Seeing as I made a distinction between her and her performances, please tell me exactly in what sense you do love Cher as opposed to loving her performances..

You did, but it was a stupid distinction to make, because you're basically suggesting that the only people who can like Cher are people who have met her. I believe I can like her based on how she's presented herself (video diaries, etc.)

please tell me exactly in what sense you do love Katie as opposed to loving her performances..
We're discussing Cher, remember? I like Cher outside of her performances for having the confidence and self belief (as a 17 year old) to get up and perform, usually better than all the others, despite rabid obsessives dismissing her week after week for no good reason. I like her because she's had a difficult life but she's stepping up and giving as good as she's got, and what she's got is good. I like her because she's entered a competition with a tradition in more conventional artists, but is coming at it with an alternative approach. There's just a few reasons.
