I think Simon might have set this up. Wagner's major staying power has always been that none of the press supported him, making him the underdog (which people love). When viewers see that the press are latching on to the 'Wagner love', they will lose interest as it is more fun backing the underdog. It's all reverse psychology.

This won't be the last tabloid to beg for forgiveness from Lord Wagner.
